I am so addicted to Cuties. They are definitely my favorite warm-weather snack and Hank and I buy them by the boxful. I just snapped this photo, and this is the fifth cutie I'm working on at the moment. SO GOOD. I'm just a huge fruit fan overall and that's basically all I eat in the summer. When the temperature goes up, anything heavy just sounds gross, so fruit is really the best choice!
As far as unhealthier snacks go, I can't get enough of Italian Ice! I was just reminiscing about Rita's Italian Ice back East. I love love love that place, and it's such a bummer that we don't have one in Arizona...or anywhere close! Whenever my family and I take our annual trip to NJ and the East Coast we go there about a million times. I also get the cherry ice and vanilla custard gelati. It's seriously to die for and Hank, my sis, and I are addicted to it.

I also need to mention another favorite summer treat- Kohl's orange and vanilla swirl cone. Unfortunately this is also an East Coast-only treat, and it can be found on the boardwalks of NJ. This photo was shot last summer at Seaside during our time there. Sigh. Why must all my favorite foods be so far away?

I'd love to know what YOUR favorite summertime treat is! Are you an ice cream gal? Italian ice? Fruit? Do tell! :)

I'm a fruit treats and slush kind of girl.
ReplyDeleteI love strawberries with cream in the summer and blue kool aid slushes, soooo yummy and way too sugary.
that orange/vanilla ice cream looks too freaking amazing.
i love dole whips, they are so amazing! i also enjoy fruit smoothies and peaches.
ReplyDeletei just had my first Rita's of the season! i moved to NJ from Boston so its still new to me, i'm loving it! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE fruit. I've been known to buy whole containers of raspberries and blueberries and eat them in one sitting. So so good!
ReplyDeleteClementines - and any fruit, for that matter - are the best! Strawberries, and especially blueberries, don't last long in my house. There are several blueberry farms nearby, and it doesn't matter how many we pick, they're always gone within a week!
ReplyDeleteThen there's ice cream, of course. And I don't want to admit how many Fla-Vor-Ices I can eat in one day...:)

Around Christmas time Cuties had little elf stickers on them that were the cutest. They said things along the lines of 'fruit for an elf'. I really like hawaiian shaved ice. yum yum yum
ReplyDeleteYuuuummy post!
ReplyDeleteMe & my son looove cuties too!
:)
Fruit girl through and through, but all year round. I can't get enough Clementines and Watermellon. Oh and Grapes, mmmmm grapes.
ReplyDeleteOh Rita's--so delicious! When my brother lived in Pittsburgh, and we'd go to visit him, we always made a few stops by there, but then, by stroke of amazing luck, someone opened up a shop in Dayton, OH!! It was pretty much the best thing to ever be put here. My husband and I just lovelovelove it! My very favorite is coconut and he likes the mango. Other than that, I can't get enough fruit in the summer! Pineapple!!!
ReplyDeleteMe and my friend just had a talk about fruits and when i think of summer. I'm always in the mood for a peach or nectarine. I cannot wait to make fruit smoothies for this summer.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite summer time treat is your freakin headband!!!
ReplyDeleteyum! those ice creams look amazing! next time i go to america i am so trying one haha >_<
ReplyDeletei love gelato & fruit on summer days x
Popsicles, especially the real fruit ones...and the blue ones because they turn my mouth blue ;P
ReplyDeleteI'm from NJ, and I also enjoy Rita's so much. On the first day of Spring, they always give out free water ice. It's magical. ha

I'm from Philadelphia, and spent my childhood summers in Wildwood, Ocean City and Cape May. I LOVE Rita's and Kohl's ice cream, and I miss it terribly now that I am in Louisiana. We DO have Dippin' Dots, though, thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteAnd we also have Smoothie King, my latest and greatest addiction. I think you would love it. Have you been there before?
Emilie Lynne: I haven't been there before but I'm a total sucker for a smoothie so I will keep my eyes peeled for one when we're traveling! Thanks for the heads up:D
ReplyDeletei am *all* about sherbert ice cream. and Cuties? totes one of my faves as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Mango and Vanilla Gelati from Ritas is so amazing!!! they also have a swedish fish flavor that my boyfriend and I are obsessed with :)
ReplyDeleteI have a ritas down the street I can ship it to you ... melted :(
you know...I'm Italian, and ice cream (GELATO) in here it's a good substitute of spaghetti or steak, during summer days...especially when it gets really hot and you want to eat something fresh but rich!
ReplyDeleteso it's ok for all fruit options but also chocolate and cream, fiordilatte (that's milky taste)and nuts, pistacchio and amarena(cherries, cherrie sauce and fiordilatte, coffee and now more delicious kinds like cookies, nutella, tiramisù!!!
abroad you all have really spectacular ways to create ice cream (in big cups, or huge swirls)..in here we have more simple creations, that's a simple cone with 2 or 3 tastes, or a small-medium cup!recently I found BEN & JERRYS icecream in Florence, and I must say that's super!
but it's definitely another kind of ice-cream!both are really yummy, but difference depends basically on ingredients...getting ice cream in a tipical GELATERIA,means that we usevery good milk and fresh fruits, real cocoa, and because of special laws and hygienic rules, ingredients must be more genuine as possible!!!
^^ so I hope for you that one day you'll have the possibility to come to Italy one day!it's worth it!
Oh that ice cream look delicious! I love frozen yogurt in the summer though! I find it a lot healthier than ice cream!
ReplyDeletehttp://velvetbirds.blogspot.com
frozen cokes, fruit, and salads.
ReplyDeletealthough because its like summer most of the year, we generally eat the same foods as we would in winter, etc, its nice to be able to have slurpees and icecream all year round thankfully lol :)
right now, im loving the oranges, they are imported from cali and pretty much kick ass over our australian ones :)
i pretty much live off of watermelon in the summer... it's embarrassing just how MUCH of it i can eat in one sitting. ;) i also love all kinds of berries - mix them together with low fat greek yogurt and some granola on top and it's the perfect snack! and some people say eating healthier isn't delicious? i beg to differ ;)
ReplyDeletei love fro yo, ice cream, gelato, anyt kind of frozen, sweet goodness. ;)
the best icecream is a quick DIY: put frozen berries with cream and icing sugar in a mixer and there you go! it´s the best - you´ll love it!!!

homemade ice cream sandwiches! mmMmm!
ReplyDelete& i know what you mean about favourite treats being far away. the closest soft serve frozen yogurt place is a 3 hour drive! ugh!
i got to seaside like once a week for kohl's during the summer, your picture made me want some :(
ReplyDeleteI'm also a big fan of smoothies in the summer and fruits like watermelon and pineapple, soooo good!
Favorite summertime treat? Has to be MISTER SOFTEE! Just mentioning it has my head swirling the song.
ReplyDeleteOther treats include watermelon, frozen yogurt, and oranges.
XOXO,
Danielle

italian ices. i live in ny so it works out well that we have the best italian ices here :)
ReplyDeletei also like to make my own fruit smoothies in the summer with lots of ice.
i like that pic of you..you look really cute! your hair/headband kinda reminds me of ashlee simpson!
my favorite summer treat is these really cheap slushies from a gas station. they're the best :)
ReplyDeleteLula's Sweet Apothecary in NYC! If you get a chance during your NJ visits to ever make it into the city, you must!
ReplyDeleteThey're all either cashew, soy or coconut based and I like it BETTER than dairy ice cream. The peanut butter fudge is insane, and the mint chocolate chip tastes like fresh peppermint! I also like the cake batter soft serve more than the usual vanilla you'd find elsewhere.
It's all so creamy and flavorful.
For healthier & at home - green smoothies!
that orange swirl ice cream looks SOOO GOOD! i think i'm going to have to find some softserve tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI had a Rita's once when I went to PA to visit a friend of mine. SOOOOOO good!
ReplyDeleteFruit is my favorite. Being able to go to the farmer's market and get fresh fruit during the summer is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteAs an east coast girl, I will now rub it in that I have Rita's and Kohr's within 10 minutes of my house! I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE them both!
I LOVE cuties too!!! I was just talking about them today!!! Love the blog. So cute! -katie
ReplyDeleteWe bought some of those Cuties and YUM! They are prefect for the kids to peel themselves and they taste delicious! Just thought I'd share! :)
