Friday night update
Happy Friday, everyone! I hope all of you are having a wonderful start to your weekend. My parents are currently in town and we've been having a great time getting things done and getting the nursery all set up. First things first, we had to paint the nursery. Hank and I have been mulling over gray shades of paint for what seems like forever, and we finally settled on one: Valspar's "Polished Silver," which we purchased at Lowe's. The room has all white trim, so we wanted a nice gray that would really make the white pop. We got started last night and taped the whole room, and this morning my Dad laid the plastic out while my Mom and I got ready for breakfast. Afterward, it was painting time. The room that became Henry's room was the only room in the house that had been repainted outside of the color scheme and was a bright blue. Some of our friends loved the color and thought we should have kept it, but our minds were set on the gray and I'm definitely glad we changed it. The final result is so incredibly perfect and I'm totally in love with it. I'm so excited to get the rest of the room done...and just in time too since I'm about 36 weeks pregnant!
I'm also really excited for tomorrow because my sister and her fiance Abe are coming up so we can all go to the pumpkin patch! I've been looking forward to it for awhile and I'm happy the weather's been a little chilly so we can enjoy a nice Autumn afternoon. Tomorrow's also the day that Hank's band Hour of the Wolf goes on tour, but due to little H. being on the way so soon, he elected to stay behind for this one. Since it's a full-US tour, it was just too risky to have him across the country if I went into labor. Our dear friend Caleb is filling in for him during this 5 week jaunt all the way across the country to The Fest in Florida, so definitely check them out if they're in your area. You can see their tour dates on their Myspace page here or on the Think Fast! website by clicking here (scroll down and select "view all shows"). And be sure to say hi to the guys if you happen to catch a show!
In case you're not familiar with Hour of the Wolf, here are a few songs. Enjoy!
I'll be back tomorrow with some Fall-time goodness! Have a great night.

Such a pretty shade! Aww I can't wait to see the final result. I wish I could have a nursery for my little one...oh well lol.

Good call on repainting the room; I just read a study about how grey is the most calming shade for babes.
ReplyDeleteI painted our bathroom grey and it makes me feel like I'm entering a spa every time I walk in...

i love the color so much! and ive definitely have heard of his band before, so nice that hes staying home from tour just incase.
ReplyDeleteUsing gray in nurseries is so stylish right now. So it's like a battleship gray, kind of? I like, a lot! I like gray, because it's kind of muted and you can dress it up or down and add pretty much any colors you want.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!

I LOVE the gray!!! So perfect! I can't wait to see the finished product!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI really like your color choice! I am so sick of baby blue and baby pink. If I have a little girl everything will be yellow, and if it's a little boy everything will be green. But the room doesn't have to be a matching color!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDelete@Carly Anne It's funny you say that because I was thinking it seemed like a REALLY calming color. I walked in a minute ago and felt that way. It's great :)!
@Alys I would say it's kind of that shade! To me it seems like a true, lighter gray. We're going to add some pops of sage green too!
@kt_kthx I felt the same way- gray was a nice refreshing choice!
ReplyDeleteThe grey is an excellent choice - I like how it's not super baby-ish, so as wee Henry grows up you won't have to change it up too much!
ReplyDeleteI love that color! We used Mark Twain House Ombra Gray from valspar for our bedroom and gray is the coziest color for a room!
ReplyDeletei love the gray! my room was gray when i was in high school and loved it. it was called "stingray". can't wait to see the nursery when it's all done.
ReplyDeleteMu husband saw that his band was coming close to where we live and he knows I read your blog. He was like, "Hey, you could go see them and meet Danielle-of-Sometimes-Sweet's husband!" Haha, I thought it was too cute not to share!
ReplyDeleteyou're such a love and i am so tearfully-happy for you! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing gray everywhere! I love the Gray/Yellow combination as well as Gray/Turquoise. Have you thought about possibly painting the ceiling a different color to give it more of a -pop-? I've seen it done a few times and it looks awesome (check out the nursery on Young House Love's blog).
ReplyDeleteLove that color! Have fun at the pumpkin patch!
ReplyDeletedid you pick the "gravity" shade? we just bought that color for our bedroom today!
ReplyDeleteweird coincidence it was in your picture of the paint samples!
<3
scratch that I obviously have been inhaling too many paint fumes today and did not realize you said the color you picked!!
ReplyDelete<3
oh my word! we totally just had those paint samples all over our floors. we picked gravity for our room :)
ReplyDeleteI painted my living room "Flagstone"... I LOVE IT. Except I have paint anxiety, TOO MANY CHOICES! :]
ReplyDeleteGrey is such a great bedroom color - we chose it for our bedroom and it is so soothing and calming... plus, I love how it looks a little different depending on the time of day. At times, you can almost see a hint of a violet undertone in it.
