Well, today marks 39 weeks...and it's a bit shocking to think that our little guy could arrive any day now. The nursery is done, our bags are packed, we're pre-registered at the birthing center, and now we just wait. Or more so, I just wait! I'm officially a stay-at-home mama now, but without Henry here it feels more like a stay-at-home waiter! Waiting and waiting. This morning it was pretty strange waking up, making Hank waffles, and then seeing him off to work. My job is now here at home, and I think it's going to be awhile before it doesn't seem foreign to me to not go to work. My hands will be so full when Henry arrives though, and I can't wait!
As far as the pregnancy, I'm feeling wonderful. Still working out, still doing my thing. I actually feel like my normal self, just with a baby in my belly. It's pretty neat. This week he is the size of a watermelon. (!!) Yup, a watermelon.
Also- here is another one of the questionnaires (last one I filled out was at 35 weeks). How far along? 39 weeks
Total weight gain/loss? about 30 pounds
Stretch marks? absolutely none still, but I've heard that in the last week a few can pop up! I honestly don't care, par for the course I say- but if I can avoid it I will. I read somewhere that they are hereditary, and my Mom never got any so...we shall see!
Sleep? Sleep has been getting a bit harder lately, because my nose has been a little stuffy at night so it's best for me to sleep with my head in a more elevated position which is pretty uncomfortable. But other than that, it's not too bad at all. I'm not uncomfortable body wise, it's just my stuffy nose! Go figure.
Best moment this week? my last day of work yesterday- it's so exciting to know I'm going to be home with my son everyday!
Movement? big movements but he's not in my ribs as much since he dropped so I'm happy about that.
Food cravings? still just fresh fruit- Pink Lady apples mainly.
Belly button in/out? 100% in; I don't think I have the type of belly button that will "pop."
What I miss: giving myself a weekly pedicure. I still attempt to, but it doesn't look that great.
What I am looking forward to: outside of the obvious like meeting Henry, seeing Hank as a Dad, etc., I'd say working out hard and eating a big fat turkey sandwich. For those who are curious as to why pregnant women are advised to avoid lunch meat, soft cheeses, etc. google "pregnancy and listeria" to learn more.
Tattoos: un-stretched and looking so good! I'm incredibly thankful for this. :)
Labor signs? increased BH contractions
Labor progress: as of LAST Friday (my next appointment is tomorrow), I was 50% effaced and not dilated at all. She also said Henry is super, super low, head down and in position to make his grand entrance! I'm curious to see what tomorrow's appointment will bring!
So that's my 39 week update! Still trucking along, and in no time Henry will be here! I just wanted to take a second and say thank you to all of you who have followed my pregnancy over the past 10 months. It's been so wonderful to not just have so much support, but to feel such a sense of camaraderie with so many of you fellow Moms, moms-to-be, and caring friends. I'm looking forward to all that's on the horizon. Thank you again for reading, you all are the best!

OMG!!!!! so excited for you. honestly, it could happen any minute, any second! Remember the farthest i went was 38 weeks. :)
ReplyDeletehe'll be here before you know it and you'll wonder how you ever lived without him :] good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt is so CRAZY to feel as though I've been along this ride with you and Henry & Henry (ha)! As a regular blog reader it's been awesome. You are absolutely adorable and are living a dream I hope to live myself one day. I wish you the best in these next 7 days more/less. And weird, my text verification to post this comment is "pappi" coincidental much?
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute pregnant!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you guys! Good luck with everything. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're so close!! I can honestly say that I've never been more excited for someone I've never met before than I am for you now!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
susannahbean
Yay! Just curious how your tattoos are looking? Maybe once you get settled in again with little Henry you can let us know if they stretched during your pregnancy and how they look after you got your bangin' body back! :]
ReplyDeleteGood Luck!
How freaking exciting!!! :) I'm glad I follow you on twitter now, so I'll know when it happens! :)
ReplyDeleteHannah- my tattoos didn't stretch at ALL! They are all looking perfect and I am SO thankful. I'll post a photo sometime :)
ReplyDeleteI got a wicked cold towards the end of my pregnancy with Jack, and then...my water spontaneously broke and he was born 13 hours later. My sister got a cold towards the end of her pg...and had her baby two days later.
ReplyDeleteIm just saying....!
Haha you look great!
I can't wait to see this little guy! I remember this period of waiting. Being so aware of your body. I was overdue with Jack and by week 40 all I did was walk on the treadmill and accost my husband to see if we could get labor going.
ReplyDeleteSleep as much as you can!
So exciting! I just had my baby boy 2 weeks ago! Here he is 3 days old on Halloween;

ReplyDeleteI'm a longtime anonymous reader, and I just wanted to let you know that I am so excited for you and Hank! Reading your blog is truly enjoyable and I thank you for sharing your life with those of us out here that dont have anything cool to write about, haha:) You're wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the week to come. I'm not a mom, mom to be, or have even decided if I ever want children... but it was really refreshing to see you go through this. You take such pride in being a soon-to-be-mommy. I feel like parenting is a soon to be lost art. Thank you for showing me my peers still feel the need to create a good stable family with morals!
ReplyDeleteIt's foreign to me how reading your blog through your pregnancy has made me feel so excited and happy for the arrival your baby. Yet I've never met you and I don't know you personally! It's kind of weird to me, yet also natural that I should feel this way since, well, Henry's a baby and babies are awesome, exciting and totally worth feeling giddy over! Not to forget the fact that you are such a lovely, sweet person! How on Earth could I not be ridiculously excited for you?! Impossible.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that when I check out Twitter I'm always on the look out for any labour tweets! :p
Enjoy these last days; I'm so glad you are feeling good. :)
xo

ReplyDeletedrsdiu43re9f-vd230gb[m --- That was from her. I think it means "Welcome Henry"
So excited for you! I'm due on Saturday with a little boy as well and yes waiting is the hardest! I went to the midwife today and it seems I'll likely be waiting a few days longer... seems the little guy is quite comfy in there!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and a fast and safe delivery!!
You are such an inspiration. Seriously. And it's just so much fun following your journey! I can't even imagine the level of excitement you must be feeling at this point.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you're so lucky re: stretch marks! I've never been pregnant and I already have some! At least I don't have to worry about them popping up once I'm preggo. ;)
you're looking great. i'm so excited!

ReplyDelete<3
that stuffy nose feeling usually means he is comming soon. that what they said at my birthing class anyway.
ReplyDeleteSo close!!! Enjoy these last few days of just you and Hank and go out to eat at your favorite restaurants since you won't be able to do that for a while! You are so lucky that you aren't uncomfortable at all while you sleep...that's a blessing! I too wanted a turkey sandwich soo bad, they had a turkey & cranberry sandwich on our hospital menu and I ordered it every day we were there!
ReplyDeleteCome on sweet Henry!!!
Ooh how exciting! I hope the birth goes well. I can't wait to see his little face, I bet he'll be a beaut :) xxx

Oh my gosh. I am so so so so so so relieved that there are belly buttons that will not pop out during pregnancy. I think I am more afraid of that than actually giving birth when I think about being pregnant one day.
ReplyDeleteOh wow. Congrats and good luck, momma-to-be! Exciting times!!

Awww ... I can't wait! The count down is on now. I wonder if you'll have Henry on Nov. 18?! I'm so happy for you. I'm glad I found your blog in the summer because it gave me a chance to see your belly grow, and get to know you better.
ReplyDeleteI started following you like right when you got pregnant or a little before!! It's insane how fast these months have gone... I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeletehow exciting. my sister just had her beautiful girl two days ago and i'm completely in love. it's such an amazing thing. all the best to you and your boys! xo
ReplyDeleteenjoy your last days of pregnancy and then the little boy with all surprises of life. i am a female reader from germany and even if you are so far away i feel very close to you. i love the way you write (god training for me to keep my english well - hehe). i become a teacher in june next year, at least i hope so ;) and it´s nice to see in which way you manage family and work. you are a god role model for me =) good luck to you and hank =)
ReplyDeleteTime flew! I can't believe it won't be long now before you are holding your precious babe.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fairly easy and healthy birth.
Whisper a little 'happy birthday' in his tiny ear for me.
Hugs to you my friend! xo
Aww congrats - so close!! (And yet still so far away, I'm sure it feels like to you!) One of my dear friends who I work with just had her baby yesterday, and I was working, so I got to assist with her baby's transition (she had to have a c-section, unfortunately...)
ReplyDeleteAlso, as an aside ... good for you for following the no lunchmeat/soft cheese/other listeria-potential foods ... my worst experience as a NICU nurse involved a baby with listeria, and it is seriously. nothing to play with.
So exciting - better than Christmas! lol...
ReplyDeleteI hope you continue to feel great this week and enjoy every minute of this happy time :-)
Have been reading your blog in silence for so long now... I have to say something now! I wish you all the best in this last week, I am sure it will be beautiful. Meeting your son has to be amazing...
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you and Hank!
We don't know each other in real life, nor have we talked, but I am so excited for your new adventure of becoming a mother! From reading your blog and getting an insight into who you are - I just know you are going to be one great mama! Your sweet personality and rich outlook on life really says it all. As you move forward on your journey, and you countdown the final days until you bring Henry into this magical world I will keep you in my thoughts. Maybe one day we will exchange words and get to know one another
ReplyDeletecrazy, time rushed so fast! I still have 20 weeks to go...lol...
ReplyDeleteI hope you can relax for a couple of days, cause there are exciting times ahead!! ;-)
xoxo Trine
For being just 1 week away, you are looking awesome! You should definitely be a spokesperson for pregnancy. Good luck with the waiting and delivery!! Can't wait to see the pictures of baby Henry!
ReplyDeleteI'm super excited for you! My Husband Nate and I are not quite ready for a baby (we only got married in June!) but I have so much fun living vicariously through my web-friends until the time comes for us! :D
ReplyDelete*I need to start commenting more, as I read almost all of your posts! Shame on me!
Super excited for you! You're going to be a great mom! :)
