Guest post from Erin/Happy Owl!

Today's special guest feature is from my long-time blog buddy Erin. Many of you may know Erin, and if you do, you probably know her as I do: a kind-hearted, bright-spirited mama, wife, and friend to all. Erin and her beautiful family live in Alaska, and since I've met her, I've never ceased to be amazed by her zest for life! It's truly inspiring. I'm so happy to host Erin here today, and I hope all of you show her a little love, and hop over to her blog and say hello!

Hi everyone! I'm Erin from Happy Owl. Not only am I overwhelmingly excited about Danielle and Hank welcoming their first little man into the world but I am thrilled to be able to share a guest post with you today.

There is so much change happening these days; politically, personally and professionally, everyday, all around us. So I thought it would be fun for us to focus a bit on dreams today. Not the ones we have once our heads finally reach the pillow but the dreams that we dare to fulfill each day.

Are you a dreamer? A risk taker, a passionate person who preservers through adversity?

I have heard time and time again people say, "with this economy I can't afford to live my dreams." And when I hear that I get so sad. My husband and I took a risk as most of you know by moving to Alaska. Without any assurance or concrete plans, we forged ahead with our dreams to live life bigger and better than we did before.

Do you dare to be a dreamer too? Make your dreams become a reality?

Whether it be the dream to stay at home and raise your children,

Or be that lovely whimsical couple that thousands of readers adore.

Whether your dreams are big or small, overwhelming or not. Live them, dream them and share them with us below. I would love to hear what you have to say. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!! :)

xo Erin

  9. my husband and I are currently in the process of fulfilling our dream...to leave the corporate world and run our web/graphic design company full time. We have a great passion for our small business and we can see the finish line...although it is still in the distance...it is there we can see it, feel it, and we finally know that our dream will be our reality soon...the other piece of this dream is we want to live part of the time in our small city of Erie, PA then we will live somewhere else for the colder months...Belize perhaps. We are almost there and I can't wait!!!

  10. What an inspirational post!

I am in my late 20's and currently living my dream and training to be a nurse!
I know it's not creative but it is such a rewarding job, no more office for me!

  11. really? What about dreaming of being the first woman President? Of becoming a famous lawyer? Of something more besides fashion, a man, and kids?

I guess you aspired to be an anonymous jackass? Congratulations on your dreams coming true!

  15. Someone's a troll and looking for a fight. :/

Erin, sweet post. Any mom knows firsthand that it is a risk and a chance to raise a family. I can't even imagine packing up and leaving California to start over in Alaska. But the thing about dreams is that they're our own and we get to say what we value. I support your individuality and your choice to share it. :)

  16. What a great little post! Following your dreams are about giving up control and going for it with all you have. Your dreams may be small or large in scale, but no matter what they are worth pursuing!

    SO very inspirational <3

  17. Some people care about things other than FAME, like truly being happy, anonymous. Not that she even blogged about EVERYTHING that she aspires to be anyhow. This is simply a snippet of her life. Did you know she is a teacher and is impacting her students life in a positive way every single day??? Erin is one of the sweetest girls you will come across, and something that wonderful is always accompanied by a few big meanies.

    Love you Erin!

  18. I don't think that anonymous understood what these dreams really were. "fashion" was not the goal of any of these people, keeping a sense of self while maintaining a family was. Opening your own store was. Those are far bigger than being "fashionable". I doubt that having a "man" is anyone's dream, as much as having someone to love and to love you. Someone to accomplish other dreams with. And you know what? Having a family is no small dream--and I resent the idea that it is.
Erin, I loved this post. It was full of positivity and inspiration of how to do what YOU want to do. Whether it's to be the first woman president, or to have a family, seeing that if its is what YOU want from your life, it is worth the chase and stopping to beat down the dreams and accomplishments of others only slows you down. Love you tons.

  23. This is just what I needed to hear! I have been down and questioning my blog and if its really worth it...I enjoy doing it, but does anyone else enjoy reading it? Who cares i like it and maybe, eventually people will express that they do like it. Thank you. cheers to crazy dreamers and their dreams.

  24. Love this blog post and I am so glad that Erin and her sweet little family had the dream to move to Alaska. If she had dreamt of being the first female president I would never have had the opportunity to be friends with such an amazing person. It's the simple things that make life worth living. I <3 U ;-)

  26. what an amazing post, and such a good reminder too.

I'd love to be able to quit the corporate world and write novels full time. I'm almost ready to send my baby book into the big bad world of agents, and it's incredibly scary, since I don't have any other idea of what I'll do if I don't succeed.

A post like this is exactly what I needed to remind me that I'm doing what I'm doing for a reason, and maybe everything could work out exactly the way I'd hoped. But even if it doesn't, living your dreams is so important!
