If you read my blog regularly you know how much I enjoy working out, be it cardio or lifting weights. I am most motivated when I have fresh, new music to enjoy while doing so, and I always have the best cardio session when I have an awesome playlist pushing me on. Below you'll find my current playlist that I'm using in the gym right now. I usually make a new one every couple of weeks, and listen to it until I get bored or sick of all of the songs. There's no rhyme or reason to my choices; I include ALL sorts of music, from the awesome to the cheesy...but it all works for me. A lot of the songs I choose to put in my gym playlists aren't songs I'd typically listen to on their own (hello J. Lo), but they totally do the job of keeping my motivation up and running...and me up and running too. Hopefully this at least gives you some new music ideas to add to your list. So, enjoy!
Oh and p.s., I have something special planned for those of you who are interested in healthy, clean eating/cooking, so stay tuned, I think you'll love it.

Just found your blog today!
ReplyDeleteLove your playlist! I personally rarely, if ever work out - but I do have a playlist for house cleaning :). (Violet is on it too) I pretty much always use music to keep me motivated and inspired.

I love this combination. It made me giggle but is totally fitting for a workout.
ReplyDeleteEclectic mix!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of exercise too...have to be since I'm kind of also a big fan of cooking, baking + eating {even if it is Vegan}. :)
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh bc I do the same thing! The songs I listen to are SO not anything I would normally choose, but they are perfect for sweating too! Although, I have been liking a little Queen + David Bowie lately, which is pretty cool.
holy shite, this is a great list. I don't know why, but I didn't picture any of this being something you liked! I have a lot of the same stuff on my gym mix!
ReplyDeleteyeay, fun playlist! I wanted to ask you, I started working out more often (about 5 days a week), and now my body is craving exercise! On my rest days, I feel this intense desire to work out. Has that ever happened to you?!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good playlist! I need to make a better one apparently - my motivation is slacking. I swear, I lose that resolution like 5 days into the year every year - ha!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! Keep up the good work... and I love that Kylie Minogue song! peace and love.

plus I think this music video is lovely.
Isn't it awesome how motivational a good beat can be? Even if it a JLo song. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat playlist! "On to the Next One" is also on my current workout playlist! (I should blog my playlist...fun idea!!)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about your clean/healthy eating. We're on a quest to change our diets and our lives...I haven't blogged much about it but it's coming! :)
Id prefer if youd make a playlist of music that you would listen to normally! Im trying to get back to music (had a long period where i couldnt stand it after working a day at the noisy mall) and right now it seems like im going into some hardcore, rather than my usual punk and rock. I need new (and old!) music!
ReplyDeleteI started doing the "shake it like a polaroid picture" dance on the treadmill and almost went flying into the wall...

I saw the first track you had listed - have you heard the FOREVER song by drake featuring kanye, eminem, and lil wayne - perfect for working out!!s
ReplyDeleteI like working out to kid dynamite too! So much energy
ReplyDeletecomeback kid and dead prez always make appearances during my workouts! and this morning my ipod was all outta go power so i took one of our old ones (yeah, we have 3) and rediscovered a new found glory...holy shit! i would never throw them on (nor would i put on saves the day) at the house, but for the gym it was pop punk madness...blasted calories on the eliptical for sure! haha!
ReplyDeletei also learned that i know every.single.word.
...i maybe put it on again in the car on the way home, just to sing along at the top of my lungs...sometimes you just gotta let it out!
haha!
love and love.
Awesome list! Almost makes me want to work out :P
ReplyDeleteRad! I love me a good workout playlist. Mine always includes Rihanna, haha
ReplyDeleteI love this mix! I laughed though because I literally just made my workout mix since I've been hitting the gym and a lot of these songs are on mine too!
ReplyDeleteI love when you upload playlists!
xo
Kate
I have never thought to include Pints of Guinness Make Me Strong in a workout play list, but I guess it works, ha!
ReplyDeleteI love Aesop Rock and Atmosphere for working out, even though I don't listen to hip-hop too often, it is so energizing.
Danielle, this isn't meant to be offensive, but I am pleasantly surprised by your taste in music here!
ReplyDeleteThat Dead Prez song is so awesome, right? The lyrics are so clever.
Thank you so much for this post! I've been looking for a good work out playlist since mine is getting kind of stale! Your mix has given me some good songs to add! (:
