My Dad and Valentine's Day

Dad and me

For as long as I can remember, my Dad has gotten me a Valentine. Every year, on February 14th I knew that a card and little treat from him would be waiting for me on the kitchen counter before I went to school. And when I went away to college, each year without fail a special card would arrive in the mail for me. All of those awkward preteen years, when I wasn't always sure if any boys liked me, or later, in college, when I was between boyfriends or had a year when I felt more down than usual, I knew that I count on something from my wonderful father to cheer me up. Thank for making me feel loved Dad, yesterday and today. You have always been such a great father and on Valentine's Day I always-always think of you. It's the little things like this that really taught me how to be a parent, and I can't wait to do the same thing for Henry. I love you!

  6. My dad did the same thing for me and my sister... every single year without fail.

this is our first valentines day without him.... and that is really hard for me.

on a happier note... i have always gotten a little something and a card for my kids... keeping the tradition alive. because it was important to him, and its important to me.

my dad never sent us valentines like that, but i remember one time in particular when i was bummed out about this horrible haircut i had gotten, and my dad went out of his way to take off work and take me out for a special lunch. yay for great dads!

My my mom and dad each always made sure to give me a little something on Valentine's day, and in college they always sent me cards/care packages.

I'm glad to hear you'll be doing the same for your little boy. Those little things really do make one feel loved. Thanks for sharing.

  19. My mom did and still does a similar thing for me. Even this year, nearly 3 years married and more out of the house, she sent me a valentine and a heart shaped salad bowl. Parents can be so darling and can be really good at making their kids feel special and loved.
