{I forgot to take a final picture so this photo was taken before we touched up the black again and
added a tiny more blue- I'll post a better photo later, of course!}
Mondo at Immaculate Tattoo in Mesa, AZ tattooed me (he previously did the "Sweet Darlin'" above my knees), and as always I loved it. I have been going to Immaculate for years and years, back when Jason tattooed me, then Cory, and now Mondo. It's a great shop with great artists, and I highly recommend you check them out if you're in the area.
I am so, so in love with it with it and of course, it's my new favorite (like every new tattoo I get)! I'm just so happy with how it turned out, and I can really see Henry in it- his tiny little button nose, chin, and the bits of hair. I hadn't thought about a frame before Mondo brought it up, but I'm so happy I ended up getting one. I have never seen a silhouette tattoo before and I have a hard time picturing things in my head, but as usual with good artists they manage to produce something that is better than you could have even attempted to imagine. I love that.
So, today was an excellent day. I'm just so excited for big-kid Henry to one day realize that this tattoo is of him, and for him to look at my arm and know his mama loves him oh-so much.

that black is super solid and it looks awesome! the shop looks really nice too, i wish i could do a tattoo tour.

I so badly want a tattoo, and have a few ideas kicking around in my head. I just feel like I have no idea where to start (and a bit of nerves stopping me too)! I like that this post gives a bit more of a glimpse into the actual process. Giving your idea to the artist, showing pictures, talking it over, hearing suggestions you hadn't though of before. I want to know more though! :) Did you pick the "Henry" font or did he? Did you know exactly where you wanted it (you must have since you've been planning for so long)? If you want a tattoo, but aren't exactly sure where, do you ever ask the tattoo artist for suggestions? I love when tattoos seem to fit like a puzzle piece where they've been placed. AND, where do you begin researching who is a great tattoo artist in your area? So many questions, you would think I haven't been reading the Tattoo Tuesday posts. haha

ReplyDeleteLove the idea of a silhouette!
ReplyDeleteJust so classic...what a beautiful tribute. And you are so right about when Henry is old enough to realize it is him...my littles love pointing out where their name tattoos are on my arm + I'm sure your little man will love it too!
:)
So wonderful, Danielle! Also, I love the blouse you were wearing when you got it done! :) Good thing you didn't get ink on it. I got a little tiny splatter of ink on this cute chambray romper I was wearing last time I was being tattooed. Now it always reminds me of how brave I was for sitting through six hours of tattoo needles. :)
ReplyDeletelooks really great! I am proud for you! Have you thought about adding the eyelashes too? To me, eyelashes make the picture look seriously precious...
ReplyDeleteI really love this!! What a sweet way to show baby Henry your love! so adorable!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful design xx

ReplyDeleteIt's just lovely! I saw this recently and told my husband to keep it in mind for our baby-to-be:

ReplyDeleteGorgeous tattoo Danielle! What a sweet idea to celebrate your adorable little one. :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love your tattoo for your little man. I got one on Saturday and I totally agree- I've found an artist who comes up with things that are a million times better than I can even imagine!I'll be sending you an email about Tattoo Tuesday soon :) xo
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the prettiest tattoos that I have ever seen. You are such a pretty mama.
ReplyDeleteThat's really nice.
ReplyDeleteLove the silhouette idea.
My husband has our kids' handprint on his chest. We scanned them and emailed them in and the artist worked out a sketch to get the lines as close as possible to their hands.
it's SO nice!!!!! what a great tattoo, love :)
ReplyDeleteI love the tattoo!! I have a question for you, I really want to get a tattoo but I'am nervous because I'm still breastfeeding. Do you think it would be alright to go ahead and get it?
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea. way better than the paper silhouettes we did back in elementary school for our parents (did your teachers have you do that? just assuming so since I'm about the same age as you). such lovely work by the artist, too!
ReplyDeleteI have read yoy blog for sometime now and had no idea no got tattooed at Immaculate! I too have been tatooed by Jason and Cory....I love your new one, it looks great and what an awesome idea:)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet idea. But his mouth looks so different! In the photographs of Henry, his little upper points out over his bottom lip. but in the tattoo, they're just symmetrical. You're so brave x
ReplyDeleteThis is a stunner. Absolutely amazing. Dying of the cuteness, charm, and all around sentiment behind it. Amazing!!
