A Little Update!

It's Thursday, Hank is home from his business trip, and all is well in the world. Kind of. Today while half walking/half running, Henry fell and hit his mouth. I was almost able to grab him before he hit but I didn't make it in time and he now has an upper lip that rivals Angelina Jolie's. Poor baby. It's horrible to see your little one in pain, and I feel terrible that it happened. From what my Mom friends tell me though it's only the beginning with a little boy (or really any rambunctious toddler).

Outside of Henry's tumble it was a pretty good day though. Miss Madeline got a bath and nail clip and I watched an entire episode of Teen Mom without crying. Or throwing anything at the television. Yes!

Some awesome things going on in my world right now:

1) Transitioning Henry from two naps to one.  Before he was napping from 9am-11am and again 2pm-4pm. That's a lot of sleep but more recently the two hour naps were becoming shorter and shorter, and he was getting increasingly harder to get down for that early nap. It was also a little difficult because all of the fun baby stuff (story time at the library, Mommy and Me, our playgroup) happened during that first nap. I usually would just push it and still go, but that was never fun in the end. So, for reasons beneficial to both of us, I decided to make the switch. I think it was the right choice though, because for the past few days he's been sleeping 12pm-3pm.

2) My appointment with a naturopath tomorrow. Since having Henry my body has been all wacky. My skin is not at its best, and although I'm sure it's hormones, I just feel unbalanced. I haven't been to the actual doctor in years, and I also think it's time to get a check up. So...I took the recommendations of a few friends and tomorrow is my first visit. It's an hour long intensive appointment and I'm looking forward to seeing what she says! I'll keep you guys posted.

3) The Bachelor. First of all, I know how ridiculous it is to even include this on an "awesome things going on in my world" list. And secondly, I understand this isn't exactly quality programming...but I can't help it, I am such a Bachelor fan. I've been watching both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette for years and years and I always enjoy every episode. For the past few seasons Adie and I have spent Monday nights at my house indulging in our favorite show (and snacks and girl talk) and this season is shaping up to be a good one! So much drama! So many psychos! Let's talk about the ladies for a second- the model chick? She's the worst! And how about Blakeley? Both crazy.  It's a trainwreck up in there!  Do any of you watch this show? Who is your favorite so far? Mine fave is definitely Kacie, who was date #1.  But really, let me know all about your opinions on the season- I'm super intrigued. And if you hate the Bachelor let me know too. ;)

I'm signing off but I'll leave you with this fun photo I put together using the Diptic app on my iPhone the other day.  The first baby is me, Henry's in the middle, and Hank is on the right! I can see my facial shape in Henry but I feel like he is the spitting image of Hank! Neat, right?

xoxo

  3. Hahaha I'm totally a closet Bachelor fan too! I watch it every Monday with one of my girlfriends. And can I just say how glad I was that the blogger left? She was just way too unbalanced for me. I definitely agree the model girl es no buena. And same goes for the Cocktail waitress. But just like you, I'm all for Kacie. She seems the most genuine so far.

  4. Best of luck at the naturopath! And wow, Henry looks *just* like Hank! That is nuts! Sorry about his fall :-/

  5. I totally feel you on the "feeling unbalanced" thang. The first five or so months after having Eisley were perfectly fine for me- everything seemed right in check with my hormones. Since around that mark my body has felt entirely out of whack though. I feel like I'm having constant PMS! I hope you get your answers. I need to set up an appointment for myself as well. Always putting it off. Sigh!

  9. In response to #2, I HIGHLY recommend the herbal equilibrium from Women to Women (womentowomen.com). It's meant for ladies going through menopause or who just have an imbalance in that department. It makes a huge difference for me and I love it! Good luck!

  10. poor Henry! And geesh, I wouldn't be surprised if Blakely and the model chick (what is her name? Courtney?) got into a cat fight. They are psychos. And what about the blogger girl? She was embarrassing to watch.

  12. I'm a HUGE fan of the Bachelor, and Ben is such a doll, even if he does insist on making out hardcore with every girl in the first two episodes.. haha. I loved Kacie too, and like previous statments, thank god that blogger girl is gone! She was giving bloggers a bad rap! ;D

  13. You know I love The Bachelor and have managed to keep up with it while out here!!! Firstly, I would totally date Ben. His personality is on point and I enjoy gazing at him through the computer screen.

I think that the only girl I even like is Kacie, everyone could get the boot tomorrow and I wouldn't mind. Plus? I totally teared up during their date. He's SUCH a dude though, thinking with his peener, Blakely is freaking crazy and so is the model chick...

  14. There was a period of time when Gabezilla was younger where I couldn't get him to sit down. Not anywhere. Not in the bathtub, not in the booth at the restaurant (heck, he's 6 and it's still hard!). It was frustrating because I knew it wasn't safe, but he just wouldn't stay seated. One time he slipped in the tub and hit his little noggin on the edge of the tub and got a little black eye. I felt TERRIBLE! Unfortunately, that didn't teach him not to do it! It was still a struggle to keep the little bugger seated, but little boys have minds of their owns, and they'll get hurt, but they're pretty durable ;)
Sorry to hear about Henry's owie!

  15. First of all, i thought that was Henry on the far right! haha.

Also, Bachelor is amazing. Loooove it!. Blakely has crazy lady eyes. The model I don't mind that much, and she really is pretty. But I agree the girl on the first date seems the most sane and down to earth, but she's really really young. I don't know. I see the model going to the end. And I am loving Ben. Super cute and funny. So far this season is wayyy better than Ashley's last year. Oh lord I felt so bad for that girl.

Wow i have way too many thoughts on a reality show.

    Bye!

  17. Have you considered acupuncture at all? It's really wonderful for restoring "balance." I just started going weekly this year and it has cured all kinds of ailments for me.

  19. Hope all goes well with the naturopath. About The Batch, which my friend and I call it. I love it! It's awful and I know that but I have been watching for years. I wish my friend and I got together to watch it but since she is the only one that does and we live miles apart we text a play by play of the craziness back and fourth. Kind of our little thing :)

  20. as a mother of two boys i can tell you there will be many mane MANY bumps, bruises and falls. but it doesn't make it any easier. your heart breaks every time ;( sorry to hear Henry had a little fall.

and jess is doing pretty much the same schedule with one nap after lunch.

    hope you enjoy your weekend!

  21. I LOOOVVVEEE the bachelor too! I am not into Ben but he seems sweet and I want him to find a good girl. I'm from Charlotte nc and so is Blakey practically making us family, so her unruly behavior makes me embarrassed for the whole state!

I'm excited for your naturopath appt. I have been going to the traditional dr instead lately but need to get back on the natural game. For sure! Gl!

  22. Totally a bachelor/bachelorette fan, too Dani! And, I totally agree, this season is full of crazies! But that's what makes it entertaining. I'm not sure if it's all true, but (spoiler alert!!!)I hear he picks Courtney...ehhh, she's awful. I do not like her at all...we'll see! Happy Friday!

  23. So sorry about his fall! But from everything I've seen.. it truly is only the beginning. ;)

    Have a great weekend!

  24. He is 100% Hank - crazy. Good luck tomorrow! And the Bachelor has never even interested me enough to form an opinion. Perhaps I missed the Bachelor train

  25. Awww poor Henry! I hope his lip heals quick. And I'm sure this is just the first of many. My husband fell into rose bushes all the time and I put my hands on a lot fireplace. SO.....children are heart attacks waiting to happen.

Also. The bachelor? Yes. Guilty pleasure. I do not like him, though. He seems like a creeper. I like Jenna, the bathroom crier. And I've only seen the first episode but model chick is crazy. You could make a drinking game out of how many times she announces that she's a model.

  26. I'm excited to hear about your appointment with a naturopath. After Vada, my body got all wacky too. Bad skin, migraines, blah. I'm hoping after this next baby everything will go back to normal. Ha! :) Good luck.

  27. I love the Bachelor! I agree the model (I can't even remember her name) and Blakely are nuts. It's crazy how there are so many girls that Ben (and most of the other Bachelors) doesn't really see it because he's not around. Well... Blakely made a fool of herself this episode, so maybe he sees it now.

I don't have a favorite yet, but there are few at the top of my list. I'm excited for the next episode!

  29. -sorry about the fall! poor little guy!
-good luck on getting yourself back to your version of normal :)
-the men in your life DO look pretty identical in those baby shots...wow! and your eyes are so pretty..even as a little one.
-i have never watched the bachelor/bachelorette before this season. i am SO hooked. i despise the model and blakely! ahhh! kacie b is SO sweet and seems so perfect for him. i hope he doesn't get distracted by the fake ladies! and can we talk about those dates for a minute? SO ROMANTIC. i am 23 and in my "i don't even need a relationship" mode, but those dates made me get all romantically jealous hahaha

  30. Dorky, but I can't wait to hear about your naturopath appointment. My body's been all wacky since having my baby too (Dec 2010), but I keep putting off any major doctor visits until after we're done nursing, since maybe things will even out for me after that's done?

I've never watched any Bachelor-type shows because I so do not care, but yay for girly hang-out time!

And my child has refused to nap since day one (even when she's miserably tired), so I have no comment on the luxury of going from any naps to fewer naps. ;)

  31. I love these baby photos, the resemblance between the three of you is so adorable!

  32. Oh my gosh, I LOVE the Bachelor! Even though, like you, I realize it is not at all a quality show, but still, I can't get enough! I've watched every single season and it's just so entertaining. And I'm pissed that that model's name is Courtney -- she is giving us Courtney's a bad rap! She's just awful! I like Kacie and I also like the girl with the nose ring and bangs, but I can't remember he name at this point.

  33. Thank you so much for the sweet comment about my blog. You will always and forever be my number one blog inspiration! <3

  34. I am beyond jealous of your nap routine... 2 two hour naps! We're still in two naps and bith are only and hour at best. I'm going to dream of four hours of free time :) Love the Bachelor too, totally a guilty pleasure. The blogger chick who got kicked off was the craziest!

  35. OMG!!!! I just saw the video Weary - Alexa Woodward via Christina Heaston Photography on Facebook and I was like that looks like Danielle. Oh! That looks like Hank!!!! IT IS!!!! And I got really excited and had to come here and share. I was so truly excited. You two are so cute. Off to finish watching the rest of the video. Happy Saturday!

  36. I can't wait to hear about your naturopath appointment! I have been seeing a naturopath for the last couple of months for a couple of auto immune diseases and it's been amazing. I hope you had a great experience :)

  37. I love The Bachelor too. It's one of the only shows I can't miss (I'm a no cable no DVR girl)...crazy girls this season and lots of tears already too.....I LOVE IT!

  39. Reality TV is definitely my guilty pleasure and you are right, there are sooo many crazies on The Bachelor! I actually wrote a related post and included a clip of the nutty blogger girl from New York.

Check it out if you want to feel better about yourself! :)
