Clean-Eating Challenge Wrap-up & Check-in

It's been a whole week since we began the Clean-Eating Challenge, and I'm so, so curious to hear how all of you did. I'd love to hear about your progress, if you're planning on continuing, if you can tell a difference in how you feel, etc! Oh, and if you posted recipes or anything you'd like to share, please leave the link to your blog in the comments.

I hope all of you who participated are feeling great today- I'm so proud of us!

  1. I did cheat at "dinner" on Super Bowl Sunday but other then that I ate clean all week and I feel great and I've lost 2lbs. Keeping it up and hoping to drop another 10lbs!!!

  2. I managed to clean eat for the whole week! I felt great and lost 2lb. I definitely enjoyed it as a way to eat, although was a bit tricky finding cheap non-processed sauces etc. If I had the budget, i'd probably try and eat like this all the time. It definitely made me think about how much processed crap i'm putting into my body, and I think it will make me eat cleaner in the future :)

Posted a few times about it on my blog (dietingbeth.blogspot.com).

    Thanks for the challenge! xxx

  3. I'm eating unsweetened oatmeal while I type this and loving it! I think the biggest change for me was changing my breakfast routine. It was hard to cut out bread and sugar at first, but I'm really noticing how much better I feel throughout the day when I start it with oatmeal or rolled oat hot cereal. Also I've discovered my new favorite lunch. Blogged about the recipe here if you're interested!

I also really enjoyed reading through other participants tweets throughout the day. My husband said to me during dinner one night, "we should eat like this all the time," and I think we just might :) It was so much easier to stick with everything by having the challenge as a way of support, so thanks so much!

  4. I was doing good until thursday + then I failed BIG TIME, haha. I posted about it on the blog in my post highs and lows of the week. I want to continue doing it, but with a few cheat days. I have such a sweet tooth, but I know there are healthier options that I can treat myself with. I just crave my brownies with milk. Ya know? ;) I'm proud of you Danielle + for all the others who stuck with it! I don't see how you have gone this long without sugar. Go girl!!!

  5. The challenge for me got a little weird very fast. I over thought it a bit too much, and I made it a lot harder than it should have been. I did a write-up here;

I'm definitely intrigued by the concept of clean eating, and I'm hoping to do a little bit of reading up on it in hopes of incorporating a little (or eliminating, I suppose) more into my diet.

  6. This was fun, I tried, but wasn't as good as I could have been. Im going to try again this week though! Every little bit helps :) I posted a couple recipes here

  7. I ate clean most of the week, but couldn't get myself to fully commit for some reason.

However - I did post a yummy recipe on my blog for a sandwich with lots of veggies.

  8. Definitely going to continue incorporating clean eating as an ideal/goal to work toward. I blogged about it (a few recipes, too) at howtofeedahusband.blogspot.com

  9. I am SO loving this! It wasn't too big of a jump for me since I'd eaten clean before, but I did have a minor transgression on Saturday (took the kids to Rubio's for lunch!). Still, I feel great and have even lost a pound or two - not a motivating factor in my decision to do it, but nice none the less. :) I've blogged about it and posted recipes a few times:

Thank you SO much for putting this challenge together. It was just the little kickstart I needed for my life overhaul!

  10. My plan is to keep going sugar free til my birthday (it will be 9 weeks total) ...
I don't really feel any different except I've had a headache for a week (which could be stress related due to closing on a house, launching a project, etc) ...
I do miss sugar, though. Heroic effort to not buy valentine's day candy at the grocery story yesterday :)

  11. I did it! And I feel so good! It was easier than I thought it was going to be and I plan to continue without putting any rules on myself so it stays fun and not stressful.

  12. I managed to do pretty well, wasn't perfect and had a couple slip ups but for me it was a vast improvement on how I've been eating for the last few months. So in my books it was a success. I'm definitely keeping going and going to try to keep making changes for the better, can't eliminate everything all at once, I've tried that in the past unsuccessfully. baby steps :)

  13. I didn't truly do the challenge, but you inspired me to take another look sugar. After reading the New York Times article from last year about the dangers of sugar I was scared into trying to change up my diet. I was never a huge sugar consumer, but it does lurk in many surprising places. In the 12 days I have been really focusing on my diet, I have changed three things (sugar consumption, only three meals with maybe one snack, and water/lightly sweetened tea only) and I have lost two pounds!

  14. I loved the clean eating week! It had its difficult moments, though persistence paid off. I found that cutting out bread really helped and that I had more energy through the day.
I have been keeping it up past a week now and think I will keep going with it.
It is my birthday on Friday so I might slip a little for the day though ;)

You can read about my time during the week on my blog:

  17. I'm disappointed. I'd fully intended on joining you all, but I am in the midst of packing and moving house (chaos!) and last Monday swam by me without me even noticing.

Will you be running the challenge again soon?

    1. It might not be a challenge, but I'm going to continue to eat clean and post about it from time to time. If you'd simply like to join me, you're more than welcome. :)

  18. I feel great! I have never done anything like this before! I was vegetarian on and off for almost a decade. That is closest "diet" I have ever tried. It made me look at all the processed foods I eat. I LOVE this diet. I feel great and I am 31 and noticed I had been developing a small line near my mouth and it VANISHED. It completely disappeared. This lifestyle really holds truth to the old adage "you are what you eat."Your blog is an inspiration. Thank you so much.

  19. Also, I teach first grade and I need all the energy I can get and this diet has helped me tremendously with that.

  20. Also, one more thing. haa.. I decided to do this mostly for my mood and not weight. I get moody a lot and I noticed that that this diet has helped my mood sooooo very much. Thank you again. I would of never thought to do anything like this if I hadn't come across your blog. I read it everyday now! Love it. Thanks!!

    1. this is great to hear!! I am playing around with my boyfriends diet right now, first one to go is dairy and we have seen a bit of improvement. He is always complaining about getting itchy and grogy and getting an upset stomach nearly as soon as he's done eating. He's still complaining about some faint traces of his issues so i think next week I'll get him on a clean diet too!

    2. Awesome!ya! I have been trying to get my boyfriend to do this with me as well. He isn't going as hardcore as me but he has cut back a lot and he is in nursing school. He says he feels better already! Also, check this article out...

  21. I am about a week behind, but I'm still truckin'. I started on Monday, and I enjoy it so much! I have been eating vegan for awhile and neither becoming "vegan" or eating clean have been much of a challenge for me. I find it super fun and rewarding. My only soft spot is for bread! I have already decided that after the weekend is over, I will continue on. I decided to keep a log of my week on my blog as well.

  22. I'm planning on doing this challenge, but on a two-week delay! We were on vacation last week, and have no food in the house this week (and no time to full-on grocery shop), but I can't wait to start next week! I've been eating far too many carbs and sugar, and am feeling like crap, so I need the reset!

  23. check it out!!!It is meant to be!

  25. I joined ya as well. Doing the no sugar thing. First day was easy but by day three I felt so irritable and grouchy. I almost fell off the wagon but I didn't, I'm stubborn and it paid off because now I'm on day 11. Still, I feel a little more irritable than usual. Hmmmm. Don't know if it's the no sugar or just stress. Still chugging along though. I think I've lost weight but don't own a scale so I'm not sure how much. Also, I don't feel full for as long. Is that weird? I feel like I need to eat more often.

  26. Eating better is not simple. But with time, the body will adjust to it. The key is motivation.
