{Tuesday's messy bun}
Loving: Prepare yourself...this is slightly (okay very) embarrassing to admit, but while I was sick I got into watching a new television series on Netflix. It's called Make It Or Break It, and it's basically a teen-geared gymnastics drama centered around a group of elite, Olympic bound gymnasts in Boulder, Colorado. It's an ABC Family show and I absolutely LOVE it. It's terribly cheesy and pretty ridiculous at times, but I can't stop watching it and have really gotten into all of the characters. I love Payson, adore Damon, and really think Summer and Sasha should be together! I haven't met one person who has ever even seen it though, so if you have, say hello! I feel so alone out here on my bad-television branch...even though I really don't think this show is bad at all. I'm finishing up Season 2 in preparation for Season 3 to begin next week and any free chance I get I'm trying to fit in yet another episode.
Thinking about: my Dad. He drove me home from the airport on Sunday night because he didn't want Hank and Henry coming down the mountain in the snow. We spent close to two hours together alone, which is unfortunately pretty rare, and it was so wonderful to have all that time to talk. I learned some things about my Dad I had no idea about (like the fact he lived in a beach bungalow for a year in Florida!) and it made me so happy to spend that time with him. I feel like it's one of those instances I'll always look back on and smile. I sure love him.
Anticipating: my wisdom teeth removal...tomorrow! AH! I've been putting this off forever and actually rescheduled this appointment about three times, but finally, the day has come. All four of mine are impacted and all four are coming out. So at 8:50am on Friday think of me as I'm getting teeth ripped out of my head. Yuck.
Listening to: Rilo Kiley's The Execution of All Things. Every single spring I feel like I blog about this but for good reason. The entire album reminds me so much of the warm months ahead and all things summer. It's great from beginning to end and it makes me so happy to listen to it, especially right around this time of the year when I am looking forward to April, May and beyond.
Eating: Ezekial tortilla pizzas. They're so simple to make and really, really good. All you do is take a tortilla, top it with tomato sauce, cheese and veggies of you choice, and bake it in the oven until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is crispy. It's a super healthy meal, especially if you pile on the veggies. Let me know if you try it!
Wishing: that I could fly all of my Hunger Games-loving friends here so we could all watch the premiere together. Due to my wisdom teeth surgery I'll probably have to wait until next week and I don't know if I can make it. I'm so excited about it and I am crossing my fingers the movie does the book justice.
How about you? What are you up to today? Feel free to do your own "currently" post on your blog and link back in the comments! And thanks again to my dear friend Megan for providing the original inspiration for these posts.
Ah I need to have my all four wisdom teeth out this year, but am putting off picking a date, hopefully you tell us all that it doesn't hurt too much, and I can work up the courage to get mine out!
ReplyDeleteAmy xo
Oh no! It's really scary, at least to me! I will be sure to give a full update so you know what to expect! <3
DeleteI have done that. Not so bad. I choose to get them all done on the same day. I was admitted into the hospital.. i was put under and when I woke up the next morning and they were all gone :) The stitches were all disolveable so no problem there.. and I was to eat ice cream and soup for about a week.. keep talking to a minimum.. but no pain..
DeleteI'm beyond excited for the film! I hope you feel better and can see it soon!
ReplyDeleteHeather x
Thanks Heather! Me too! :)
DeleteOhhhhhh my gosh I'm so excited someone else is into the uber cheesy teen drama Make it or Break it. I watched a season a few months ago and once my husband walked in watched about 5 minutes and asked What exactly are you watching here? I adore Payson! she's so sweet and has so much drive!! Lauren can be so mean though!!!
ReplyDeleteI totally want to try the Tortilla pizza!! I love sprucing pizza up in different ways. I make my husband mini pizzas on crumpets because he's addicted to crumpets. This sounds like something I'd totally love. Who doesn't love pizza? :) Thanks for sharing!
I feel the same way about flying some friends for this premiere. Good luck with your wisdom teeth. :) xo
Tanja
Ha! Hank did the same thing...he walked in at the beginning of Season 1 when the girls were doing those flips at the gas station to scare off the "thugs." That was probably the cheesiest part of ALL of the show I've seen, so of course he walked in there!
DeleteI'm currently on Season 2, with about 5 episodes to go!
And one more thing- totally try the tortilla pizza. It's soooo good.
<3
Oh man...I totally agree about The Execution of All Things. It's a perfect spring/summer album.
DeleteI meant to comment on the main post. Remind me not to try to comment on blogs from my phone. Ha!
DeleteYou're lucky you've managed to hold off so long with your teeth, I'm almost 20 and it's looking like I'll need to have mine out this summer for the same reason as you. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to both of us! :)
DeleteGood luck with those wisdom teeth! You'll be better before you know it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! <3
DeleteI had all four out too, just make sure to eat soft foods and clean your mouth really well. Try to allow yourself as much rest as possible too and you'll be better in no time! (:
ReplyDeletexo
Kayla
Thanks Kayla! I'm hoping it's easier than I am anticipating!
DeleteThank you for stopping by!
I put off my wisdom teeth forever too. I was terrified to get them out. In the end I had to chuckle at myself because it wasn't all that bad but I got myself all worked up anyway. Use the excitement of the hunger games to get you through! Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteOkay that makes me feel better! Thank you :)

ReplyDeleteI love the bun. It is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am going to try the pizza. it sounds so good!
Thank you Andrea! Let me know if you like the pizza. :)
DeleteThanks for the Make It or Break It rec. I have a strong affinity for bad teen dramas and this sounds right up my alley! :)
ReplyDeleteOh man I am SO excited for you. Keep me posted!
DeleteI put off having my wisdom teeth taken out, too! When I finally did it, I went to GNC (you could find it at any health/vitamin/supplement store) and bought some Arnica gel and the supplements you take with it. Between putting the gel all over the outside of my cheeks, and taking the supplement, it REALLY helped with swelling and bruising! I totally recommend it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the rec Diana! <3
DeleteI watch Make it or Break it, too!! It is so ridiculous and out of control, but a great no-brainer show at the same time. You are definitely not alone in your love of "bad" television :)
ReplyDeleteIt is SO out of control...and yet I find myself getting stressed about it. Right now I'm at crossroads with Emily and Damon and hoping it works out. I also realize how insane I sound. ;) hahah!
DeleteI love your "currently" posts and I think I am going to try it on my blog, thanks a lot for all the inspiration and motivation you bring to my life! I will be thinking about you tomorrow, good luck!! I have been eating the baked sweet potato (your recipe ;) ) all this week and I am loving it, now I have to try the pizza!! Abrazos!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, you are so welcome! Please link me when you post it! <3
DeleteAlso- aren't those potatoes amazing!? They're one of my favorite dinners.
It's funny but my dad and I always have the best conversations in the car. I cherish every just us car ride we've ever taken. :)
ReplyDeleteDads rule <3
DeleteI've never watched Make It or Break It...not really. I think I saw one episode once, but I've never tried to get into it. Maybe I should!
ReplyDeleteDo you watch Pretty Little Liars? It's another ABCFamily show. It's so, so good! You should check it out sometime. : )
Here's a link to my "Currently" post from earlier this week. : )
http://lydsncompany.blogspot.com/2012/03/lyds-currently.html
YES! You definitely need to watch it. This is the 3rd rec I've gotten for Pretty Little Liars so I think I'll check it out next! :) Thanks.
DeleteTHE HUNGER GAMES!!! so excited, I hope you get to see it and your teeth arn't too much trouble!
ReplyDeleteHere's my currently :) http://booksartandstartrek.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/currently.html
Thank you! I hope so too. <3
DeleteI love your blog! This is my first time commenting and I love to hear your stories and what is going on. We are very similar in ways and it feels like we could be instant friends. If I do not get a workout in almost every day I will not be in the best of moods and I struggle with this almost every day and it makes me feel better that other people feel the same way.
ReplyDeleteI love Make It or Break It and my husband laughs at me whenever I watch it. I am glad there is someone else out there around my age that likes the teen drama. I think I like it because I use to do gymnastics in high school and miss it. I watched the first two seasons on netflix probably in three sittings because I got so into it.
Goodluck with the wisdom teeth. You will feel so much better in a week and happy that it will all be over with.
Thanks for writing! I always enjoy reading your blog!
Hi Megs!
DeleteThank you for such a great comment! :) We sound so much alike and I LOVE that you love MIORBI (see what I did there? haha).
Thank you so much for stopping by! <3 <3
Love your hair!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elisha!
DeleteI'm guilty of loving Make It or Break it myself. I'm glad to know I'm not alone in my insanity :) What started as a "it's on so I'll watch it" kind of show turned into a "My show is on!" kind of show.
ReplyDeleteAs for the wisdom teeth, I had all four of mine out last year without any swelling or pain. I hope you are as lucky!
Love your blog - it was actually the one of the first that I followed regularly and now I have a blog of my own! www.lovelyexplorer.blogspot.com. Come visit!
I just had my wisdom teeth out in December. I was really lucky and only had 3. You start to feel normal again after about a week. Make sure you get tons of sleep and try not to do anything too strenuous... it made my jaw ache when I tried to work out 5 days after the surgery.
ReplyDeletei found make it or break it in a sick-enduced stint on the couch with netflix. amazing! welcome.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be okay with the widsom teeth, promise! I had a hard time with my bottom ones, only because it was hard to prop an ice pack on my chin. Thankfully, I found the perfect solution. I used a freezing cold Coke can! That little can nestles in perfectly along your jawline and helps keep the soreness at bay. I would lay on one side with an ice pack on my cheek and a Coke in my neck, then I'd switch. By Day 5, I was eating mostly normal. So, good luck, you can do it!
ReplyDeleteIt's so sweet that you were able to spend that time with your father!
ReplyDelete& Rilo Kiley definitely is the CD I play during this time for years, in all the years past it has always been that way. Such a great ritual.
I'm going to see the Hunger Games this coming Monday and I cannot wait.
Good luck with your teeth extraction.
I think I will do a currently post tonight! Also, I got all my wisdom teeth out on the same day last summer. Lay in bed and watch netflix, while eating soup and babyfood. :)Good luck!

I need to get that series for my daughter! She's a gymnast and would totally love it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your wisdom teeth! I put mine off for 7 years (all 4 impacted). I wish I hadn't waited so long. It really wasn't that bad.
xx,
Tiffany
I think you are the first person I've come across who has watched Make It or Break It! Well, except for my fiance who has watched random episodes with me just because he's in the room. He gets into the storyline, though! Switched at Birth is another ABC Family show that's on Netflix and is just as easy to get absorbed into. Ahhh, guilty pleasures. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck tomorrow!
Love these posts... thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteLinked mine to yours ;-)
xx
Thank you for giving me the idea to do a post like this. I don't think that most of the time we stop and think about what is making us happy at that moment in time.
ReplyDeletexxx Beth
ps. I love reading your blog. You are so cool.
I had my wisdom teeth out in high school. My doctor told me it was worse for blonde hair, blue eyed girls. I was out for a few weeks, but I think I really just didn't want to go back to school haha :( I know some people that rebound in a few days though. I hope it goes smoothly :) I watch teen shows too- Pretty Little Liars is my FAVORITE!!! I just finished reading The Hungers Games + I LOVED it! I think I may wait to see it until the crowd dies down a little bit. That pizza sounds yummy :) I ♥ Rilo Kiley. I'll be doing a currently post next Tuesday!
ReplyDelete1. Your hair looks GORGEOUS!
ReplyDelete2. I don't watch Make it Or Break It but I DID watch the short lived ABC Family version of 10 Things I Hate About You, loved it despite it being "embarrassing" and was so sad when they cancelled it. My sister watches a couple of ABC Family shows, too, like Secret Life and Switched at Birth. We also love a ton of current Nickelodeon shows with zero remorse so you're definitely not alone!
3. I will also be waiting until next week to see HG (Good luck with your wisdom teeth! The dentist is one of my least favorite things so I know how you feel) and I wish AZ and NYC were closer so we could watch together! :) Either way it looks SO good and true to the books (from the trailer anyway) I can't wait!
I love your hair like that! So elegant.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I agree about the Hunger Games. I'm super excited to see the movie but I'm also a little scared that the movie might not do the book justice. We'll see!
And I'm definitely trying the Ezekial tortillas!
Ah! I like you more and more each day.
ReplyDeleteLong talks with my dad are rare, but when I do get him to myself, I always enjoy our time and the things that we talk about... how lucky are we to have such lovely fathers.
loving your hair ... and that tattoo...
xoxoxo

I had my wisdom teeth taken out November of 2010. It wasn't super bad. All 4 were impacted so I got all 4 taken out. I didn't even swell up the next day. Hope it went well!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!! I just did my own "Currently" post and added a link to your blog. Here's a link to my post.
http://ralizabeth.blogspot.com/2012/03/currently.html
I love that show too. I made fun of myself forever for watching it (sometimes I watch it on my phone from netflix at the gym), but the new epsiode for the new season starts Monday ;)
ReplyDeleteI got my wisdom teeth out about 3 weeks ago, its honestly wasn't that bad, Just make sure to follow their instructions. I had no troubles. I hope you do not either.
ReplyDeletei LOVE make it or break it. i can't remember what his name is now, of course, but i am in LOVE with kaylie's man. ;) i wish i could have him for myself.
ReplyDeleteI watch Make it Or Break it! So do my sisters and our mom... :) We're suckers for most things ABC Family, hahaha! I wish I could have all my Hunger Games-loving friends together for the premiere, too. Sadly, that's not possible. But my sisters and a couple of friends are going with me to the premiere tonight, and we CAN'T WAIT! I'm nervous about it being way different than the book, but so far, every review I've read said that it's pretty close, and the things that are different are understandable. We'll see about that! :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE Rilo Kiley and especially The Execution of All things, great album! I posted my "Currently" here: http://www.begladandyoung.com/2012/03/currently.html
ReplyDeleteThis post made me so happy!! I, too, get sucked in by all the ultra-dramatastic ABC Family shows, so I'm glad I'm not the only "adult" in this predicament. :) AND I love Rilo Kiley, AND I love tortilla pizzas, AND I love my dad! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh! I love some ABC Family. I am hooked on Switched at Birth and Jane by Design. It looks like I need to add Make it or Break it to my list!
ReplyDeleteArgh, good luck with having your wisdom teeth out! I had mine out earlier this year, and I won't go into details but, well, it hurt! From what I've heard, though, they're more generous with the painkillers in the US than here in the UK, so I'm sure you'll be fine!
ReplyDeletepretty much wholeheartedly love that tattoo
ReplyDeleteI started watching Make It or Break It with my 'lil gymnast' and am now like you .... hooked! I agree it's a little cheesy and ridiculous at times, but it's something my daughter and I can both enjoy watching. I've watched almost all of season 2 in prepartion of the new season next week. I'm glad I'm not the only adult watching. LOL
ReplyDeleteLove your hair! And no worries girl, I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed on April 2nd... BOO... So I'll be right there with you!!!
ReplyDeleteXO Lucy
I hope the wisdom teeth thing goes well. You are so healthy and take such good care of yourself you will handle it and heal so quickly. Love your hair like that!
ReplyDeletexo,
Kacie
I LOVE Make it or Break it! Or if you're a crazy fan like me, MIOBI! Haha! I feel a little weird being in my late twenties watching shows about teenage/high shcool drama, but I can't get enough. I watch ALL of the ABC Family teenage/high school shows and I'm not ashamed to admit it. :) I alos think Summer should be with Sasha and I love Payson and how level headed she is in the midst of all the teenage craziness. I can't wait for it to start back up next week!
ReplyDeleteI love watching teen series as well. I know I'm way past that stage but I still feel like I can relate to them. haha. :-) Have a lovely Thursday, Danielle!

I LOVE Make It Or Break It! My favorite character has surprisingly turned out to be Kaylie. Her development and growth over the last season? Fantastic. I like Payson too, but Kaylie's my fave. And I hope Kaylie can forgive Kelly Parker--I've enjoyed watching her development as well.
ReplyDeleteLauren is so ... I can't find any reason to like her. They're trying, with the mom thing and stuff, but honestly, she's just a mean person and I don't like her. (The actress seems really sweet, though!)
Fun post. I came here by way of Filling Our Bucket. :)
Here is my currently post: http://themarvelousflight.wordpress.com/2012/03/22/currently-2/
ReplyDeleteYou should add a McLinky tool to this post so we can all join in and see each other's each week!
Cara
So while you're on the couch recovering from having your wisdom teeth out, check out a show on Netflix called Dance Academy. It's an Australian tv show about a ballet school. You will love it.
ReplyDeletexo
I love that you got that special time with your Dad - I really love the (unfortunatly too rare) times I get to spend with my dad one-on-one too.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your tooth extraction - I'll be thinking of you! xo
Here's a link to my currently post - loved doing this!
http://princess-sputnik.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/currently.html
I had my top two taken out 2 years ago - which I heard not as much pain as the bottom. But I have to see a root canal specialist & get a tooth pulled this year - both i'm putting off! because I cannot take strong pain pills bc I'm either allergic or they do not work. I hope you do not have that problem!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea why it wont end in currently.
http://thisgirlinglasses.blogspot.com/2012/03/target-before-new-hair-cut-loving.html
haha i love make it or break it.. this season coming up looks like an intense one too!! I'm so excited for the drama! haha its one of my weakness i even got my fiancé into it!
ReplyDeletei had my wisdom teeth removed, they also had to remove 4 baby molars which were fused to my jaw bone. the best advice i got from the surgeon was to alternate hot and cold every 15 minutes.. with a break once an hour. so we bought frozen peas and separated into 4 smaller ziplock bags and rotated between them, and heating pad. i'd do heat on one side and frozen on the other, then switch. the freezing is to help reduce swelling, while the heat is to reduce jaw stiffness. good luck!!!

oh danielle! i LOVE make it or break it. it is sorta my guilty pleasure. haha! the new ones are coming out soon! ahhhhh!
ReplyDeleteI've only just started watching Make it or Break it. Funnily enough the week my major research paper is due. Why is it so addictive!? I am watching an episode even as I type this. I even got my boyfriend hooked. We are hopeless!
ReplyDeleteI'd also love to know how you do your messy buns with that pretty twist going into it?
I've absorbed your Currently posts into my own blog, and do one on the last day of each month, now. : )
ReplyDeleteRilo Kiley is one of my very, very, very favorite bands. I love Jenny Lewis's voice so much. I listen to Under the Blacklight every fall, September through November pretty much on repeat, and I love Execution, too. Good luck with your wisdom teeth. I had all four of mine out at one time, too, and was pretty much out of commission for a week.
Ahhh i just got into watching this show this week and i love it lol so corny and ridiculous but it sucks you in:) I am almost done the first season! What would we do without netflix and their random shows!!
ReplyDeletebaaahhh... i got hooked on that show last summer. i never knew anyone else who saw it either though. then i got my best friend hooked so that at least i could have someone to talk about it with and not feel like a complete lame-o. it's good though right?!?! at least in a teen drama cheesy sorta way :)
ReplyDeletei LOOOOVE make it or break it. been watching it since it first started b/c i used to be obsessed w/ gymnastics. it'll be weird that emily is no longer on the show. but i'll still watch. have you seen stick it? i love missy peregrym, she's great in it.
ReplyDeleteWhy would anyone be embarrassed to say they liked Make It or Break It? That show is awesome! Hope all went well with your wisdom teeth. I'm linking up at http://budgetmaven.wordpress.com/2012/03/23/currently/
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI myself also LOVE Make It or Break It! I watched it so quickly! Now while patiently awaiting the newest ones on Netflix, I have found myself addicted to Vampire Diaries. SAD I know. But whats a girl to do? Damon is hot, what can I say?
ReplyDeleteAnnnndddd... I also love making tortilla pizzas. They are so crunchy! YUM!
I love your blog, thanks for giving me something to look forward to reading!
Check me out here http://tambijeanne.blogspot.com/
Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI posted my own!
I live in Belgium (completely different timezone) but I know your wisdom teeth probably have come out already and I hope your not in too much pain!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just started reading and following your blog two days ago but I really like it! ^^ I just wanted to tell you that.
Probably the coolest blog I have ever seen.. Very nice!
ReplyDelete- Ellen, http://eventsofellen.blogspot.com/
I am so glad you are nerding out about Make it or Break It. I thought I was the only person over the age of 14 who watches it!
ReplyDelete:)
I love this post currently!
ReplyDeleteoh wisdom tooth. I wish I could had gotten my four removed at the same time, but they were growing at different time. I just got my last two ones done last November. I think I was in love with baby food (just the fruit ones) for a while. I had a quiz the same day i got it removed, I was in another world but manage to do good on it. I'm hoping to have more days hanging out with my dad soon!!

I haven't seen Hunger Games yet either.. will have to wait till april.. hope it does live up to the books.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're recuperating from getting your wisdom teeth out. I went through that pain in October. It was rough, but a good excuse to drink lots of shakes/smoothies. :-)
ReplyDeletehttp://littlegraypixel.blogspot.com/2012/03/currently.html
Pretty much every time you do one of these "currently" posts, I have to do one too!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.withmycamera.com/2012/03/right-now-i-am_26.html
sad face about the wisdom teeth, but good luck!
ReplyDeletei love make it or break it! payson is definitely my fave. i haven't seen it in forever though so i'm way behind. i need to catch up before season three starts!!
i LOVE make it or break it too! but because i don't have a tv (and english netflix is rubbish), i only really watch it when i go back to my parents' house...at like 7am or something when it's actually on. as for the wisdom teeth, i'm sure you'll be fine! i ate a massive slice of chocolate cake after mine (which surprised all the nurses) and was chatting away about my friend sam. they were...a bit confused. but all in all it wasn't half as bad as i thought it would be!
ReplyDelete
