What a beautiful, sunny day- not a cloud in the sky! ☀
yesterday - sunshine and not a cloud in the sky!

Obsessing over: Titanic in 3D...and the fact that I am going to see it tomorrow night. Adie and I have been freaking out ever since we saw the commercial and we've been waiting for this week for a long time. I first saw Titanic when I was a sophomore in high school and absolutely fell in love. Cheesy as it may be, it's absolutely one of my all-time favorite movies. I cry every time I watch it and there's just something about it that really, really gets to me. It's such a beautiful film, and I can't wait to relive it all over again in 3D this time. Re-reading this paragraph I sound so ridiculous but I can't even help it. I am SO excited.

Working on: getting organized and refreshed for spring. I love the idea of spring cleaning- Hank and I are already super neat freaks but as crazy (and slightly annoying) as it sounds, I actually enjoy going through things, simplifying, and organizing. Last night I also came across this article- Spring Cleaning from the Inside Out- and it really resonated with me. It includes questions to ask yourself when going through things, and I found the entire article to be inspiring and very helpful. It has you ask yourself things while going through items like, "when I see it, does it lift my spirits?" "Does it have a practical use, today?" and "am I keeping it for me, or out of a sense of duty to someone else? Is it a burden?" There was some of it that wasn't 100% me (I will be the first to admit I like my "things"), but the overall message was great. Give it a read if you're interested.

Thinking about: how happy I am with a change I recently made. I decided to stop writing for Hello Giggles regularly for a number of reasons, but one of the biggest was that I felt I was giving away some of my most favorite pieces to an outside source. And for what? This is where I write and share, and I didn't like that some of my most loved pieces of writing weren't even here. I also didn't enjoy writing to a deadline- it took the fun out of it for me. I did gain a lot of perspective from my time there, and I loved being a part of it from the beginning...but it is no longer for me. I do though, look forward to sharing more of the writing here that I typically reserved for them (like my Father & Son post last week), and I will also be republishing some of my favorite HG writing over the next few months on Sometimes Sweet, just so I have them here to look back on. I wanted to thank you all so much for supporting me while I wrote there- the comments, tweets and emails about the pieces I shared meant the world to me. I may still contribute from time to time, but last week I informed them that I will no longer be an every week or every other week writer for them.  And I'm so, so happy to focus all of my energy here.

Anticipating: this weekend! On Friday we have a ton of family coming into town and we will be heading to Sedona to spend the day exploring and showing my Uncle and cousin some of Northern Arizona's most beautiful spots. They're from New York, so I know that the gorgeous red rocks will take their breath away. My Mom, sister, Grandma, and Aunt will also be joining us so it's going to be pretty amazing. Then on Saturday Hank and I have an afternoon date to (finally) see the Hunger Games, and on Sunday we will be attending my in-laws big Easter brunch. Is it bad I'm already looking forward to the crepes? Yum.

Listening to: Gossip Girl. Well, watching too of course, but I'm addicted. I only have time to watch an episode a night (sometimes only half an episode), so I've been slowly making my way through it...but I love it. I wonder how I never saw it before! Thanks to being sick, followed by my wisdom teeth extraction I've made it all the way to Season 4 and I'm on the first episode. My favorite characters by far are Chuck, Blair and Rufus!

Eating: quiche. I have one in the oven right now. I've already shared the recipe but I think I'll post an updated one tomorrow with better photos. Paired with fresh fruit it's the perfect kiddo (and adult) breakfast or lunch. Henry really loves it and it's super easy to make.

Wishing: that I had all the time in the world to actually try out all of the amazing things I pin! I think I need to make a goal for myself to cook or bake one recipe per week because my "To Cook and Bake" board is filling up at an exponential rate without me actually trying out anything. And isn't that the point of Pinterest? To actually DO rather than just pin? Do any of you have this issue? haha. Perhaps I'll actually make this sweet treat in the next week, it just looks too good not to!

How about you? What are you up to today? Feel free to do your own "currently" post on your blog and link back in the comments! And thanks again to my dear friend Megan for providing the original inspiration for these posts.

  1. I love this post!! Okay, here's what I am up to: working on a new recipe for goat cheese and rosemary mashed potatoes (I've almost got it right!), finally reading the Steve Jobs biography, listening over and over and over to Adele, trying to photograph all the gorgeous spring flowers in my yard before they are gone, and spending WAY too much time on Pinterest. And yes, just the commercials for the new 3D Titanic actually make me a little weepy. :)

  4. Hey Dani, I just wanted to say that I'm really glad you decided to simplify and focus more on your blog. I loved, loved the articles you wrote for Hello Giggles so much and it was kinda sad that They weren't actually posted on your blog that anyone could easily go back to and find along with all you're other great stuff on here!
I also wanted to say you are such an inspiration to me, and every time I visit your blog I have a little better outlook on life, so thank you for being so uplifting and positive! xo -Liz

  5. I really love titanic - it's so funny because everyone seems to hate it but I actually think it's a brilliant film. I really love Kate Winslet and like you I remember going to the cinema to see it as a teenager! I remember being absolutely busting for a wee at the end and the entire row behind me were sobbing there eyes out at leo but i was so desperate I just wanted it to end!

Gossip Girl is brilliant - and it gets EVEN better! I'm currently rewatching my so called life - i used to love that show!

  6. I am so excited for Titanic. I was 9 when it first hit theaters and it was the first movie I saw multiple times in the theaters. And it was the first time I feel head over heels in love with an actor. I cannot wait to re-live my Leo-mania!

  7. I'm only slightly freaked out about the 3-D thing. There's something about people falling to their death in 3-D that rattles me, but I'm hoping that it's changed somehow. I'm very curious to see how big this film is all these years later.

Quiche! We've offered that a few times at my school (I'm a preschool teacher) and the kids have not wanted to try it. I love that your kid doesn't seem to be a picky eater. I recently read the kids Green Eggs and Ham to try to remind them how important it is to try things.

Here's my "currently" of the week: Monday Night Digs.

  8. I haven't even seen Titanic in non 3-D! I think I might never. I've also never seen the Star Wars prequels!

  10. I need to get on the spring cleaning bandwagon! My in-laws are taking my toddler for the day on Friday, so I'm planning a trip to Target to stock up on Method supplies (and probably some other fun stuff, too!) and then hopefully getting to work. And if all goes well, they'll watch her long enough so my husband and I can sneak off to see Hunger Games - I'm so excited! I meant to comment last week that I made those lemon bars after seeing them here and I can vouch for them - so delicious and so easy to make!!

  11. Oh Gossip Girl I am seriously obsessed! I am on the last disc of Season 4. Season 3 is just S O Good! Blair is by far my favorite, she has the best dialogue:)

  12. I cried when I first saw the preview for the Titanic 3D, haha. I'm not sure if I will see it or not. I'm planning on doing some Spring cleaning this weekend. Yes, I pin way more than I actually do. I always wish there were more hours in the day! I think it's good to set a goal to make sure you do it. One a week sounds doable ♥Lindsay

  13. Since I started following you (about three days ago) I'm a big fan! Your post are so easy and fun to read and I love every single post. They're all pretty new subjects to me and that's a great inspiration for my own blog. I'm definitely gonna make a currently post inspired by this one soon.

Looks like there are a lot of happy things going on right now. Big and small ones and that's the perfect mix. I am too very addicted to Gossip Girl and need to catch up soon. Did some spring cleaning yesterday and besides the apartment, my head seems also more organized.
Gonna read the Spring Cleaning article now. Have a lovely day!

  15. Omg,Titanic on 3-D. Count me in! I saw it at the theater when I was 12 (in 1997). That's one of my all time favorite movies, too. Plus,I think it's awesome that you're simplifying. Those oatmeal lemon creme bars look so good,too...making me hungry. Thanks for that. :P

  16. Hey I can't wait to see titanic either... I feel like I owe it to the 13 yr old me who saw it at least 5 times in theaters, preordered the VHS, and drove through a tropical storm with my mom to pick it up the video the day radioshack got it... to see it in theaters this weekend. No shame here!

  17. Good for you deciding to just write on your own blog! I know that must have been a hard choice to give hello giggles up, but simplifying is wonderful- isn't it? :)

  46. I feel the same way about writing for outside publications. I used to do stuff for Swallows and Daggers (you can find it if you go WAAAY BACK into their archives) but writing for a deadline with no pay is ridiculously un-fun.

  50. I'm only a little bit flipped out about the 3-D factor. There's something about individuals dropping to their loss of life in 3-D that rattles me, but I'm expecting that it's modified somehow. I'm very interested to see how big this movie is all these decades later.
