Untitled

Thinking about: how weird it is to be growing a little person inside of my body. It was weird to me the first time around, and just as weird this time. We had a check-up today and I swear, I'm still shocked to hear that heartbeat and realize that even though I don't feel too pregnant, I most certainly am. At the same time there's so much worry. By nature I'm a worrier, and believe me when I say that being pregnant brings on a whole new set of anxieties. I mean I still get nervous going into these simple check-ups (what if I'm not really pregnant? what if they can't find a heartbeat?). One of my struggles is just stopping my overactive mind and being in the moment because right now is such a beautiful place to be.

Reading: right now I'm on the third book of The Beautiful Creatures series. I blazed through the first time but have been reading this one a lot more slowly, and mixing it up with Everyday by David Levithan also. So far, so good!

Listening to: Lately I've been on the most insane 90s kick. Hank is not impressed! haha. I also realized after typing that out that I think I've written that "lately I've been on a 90s kick" so many times, especially in these posts. So many I should only share if I'm NOT listening to 90s music, yeah? Makes sense. Anyway, my most played album this week so far would have to be Jewel Pieces of You. Ugh, it's so good and I think I've got Henry liking it too. I tweeted about it a few days ago, but while listening to the Jewel station on Spotify, Alana Morissette came on and Henry covered his ears and yelled, "No, no Mommy! I do NOT like this!"

Looking forward to: We got our big ultrasound date today...and April 2nd is the day we find out if we're having another little boy or a little girl. Now I need to just work on being patient for the next three weeks. SO excited!

Watching: So the other night I couldn't fall asleep and decided to see what was on Netflix. Switched at Birth was in my recommended titles so being that it was an ABC Family show (my favorite) I figured I'd give it a try. And guess what? Surprise, surprise, I love it. This network has not let me down yet! Have you seen this show? I'm about halfway through Season One because for some odd reason there are 30 (!!) episodes in it.

Making me happy: spending this week at my parents' house where it's in the high 80s and 90s! Ah! I can't wait. Swimming laps, Nanny doing okay, Henry and his funny little sayings, Chocolate-Dipped Coconut Luna Bars in place of Girl Scout Samoa Cookies (taste the same and so much healthier), new friends, Tom Petty and the song Wildflowers, sunshiney-outdoors time, chalk art on our driveway, planning our first garden, making plans for summertime fun with friends, and seeing people I love in love. Nothing better.

So, how about you? What are you up to today? Feel free to do your own "currently" post on your blog and link back in the comments for everyone to check out. And thanks again to my dear friend Megan for providing the original inspiration for these posts.

xoxo

  1. OK, I LOVED Switched at Birth. I seriously watched all of them over about 3 weeks and then told my sister to start it while she was house sitting for us. She speaks ASL so she was hooked instantly.

  2. I just did a Currently post yesterday (http://soonrememberedtales.blogspot.com/2013/03/currently-march-12th.html) although it isn't quite as fun as yours. I LOVED the first Beautiful Creatures book. I have every intention on continuing with the series but I'm knee deep in ARCs so I can't right now. :(

  7. I used to sing my heart out (or at least try to) listening to "Pieces of You!" TLC came on the radio the other day and I felt myself swaying and singing to it like old times. :)

  9. I haven't thought about Pieces of You in YEARS. Ah! I might need to download some of it from iTunes (you know, because I have no idea where my cassette disappeared to...).
Once I finish all the current episodes of Mad Men on Netflix, I'll be moving on to Switched At Birth. Thanks for the rec!

  10. Everyday by David Levithan is such a wonderful book.. I couldn't put it down. Now you're going to get me on a 90's kick! ;)

  11. I would also have moments like that I think; 'there is a little person inside me' (there isn't)-amazing.

I borrowed a friends ipod shuffle for a 10km on the weekend-and it was all 90s dance music-was my fastest 10km and made me laugh outloud. brilliant

  12. I'm not ashamed to say I still jam out to "everybody dance now" on my workout mix! we used to listen to a lot of the Jock Jams mixes before/after school + rec league sports practices and I just think of working out hard when I hear that stuff.

    anyway... here's a currently-ish post of random thoughts :)

  13. I have such vivid memories of being really little and listening to that album (Pieces of You) of my mom's and belting it. You have excellent taste in music Danielle!

  14. The feeling of growing a child was incredibly alien to me during my pregnancy with Maile. It's one of those things I hate to admit, but I felt strangely disconnected from her until the actual moment of her birth. Always, always mind-blowing to think about what a woman's body is capable of!

Sooo ... Are you going to share sweet baby's gender with us? :)

  15. It is SO weird growing a human! So surreal! And I think next time I'll be just as paranoid as I was the first time. I did a currently post last week! http://happylittlefoxes.blogspot.com/2013/03/currently.html

    1. I've read that article! Maybe even linked it in a links post? Anyway, sorry you used to love my blog! I'm assuming you're telling me that you feel I'm one of "those people" from the article...a bummer you feel that way but I can't please everyone. This post especially is sharing things I'm loving right now, or things that are making me happy. If it was talking about my entire day, or even "Currently annoying me" then there would be some different things. But it's not, and it's your choice to read into things and see something negative in a list of things that make me happy!

  18. The feeling of growing an actual human being is just... undesirable. I've sat and thought about it for hours. At first I think about the little wombbat growing all tucked in there, that leads to a baby and thinking about nourishing him with *my* own body. Then I began to think about myself, my husband, my brothers and sisters, his brother. We were once our parent's babies. Our parents once laid in bed thinking these same thoughts having these same feelings. And now look at us all! We're adults. I wonder how the feel? I look at my 5yr old with such amazement! I can't believe he's grown so much. 5 was the "it" age. I remember holding him as an infant and wondering who he'd become, the things we'd do, etc. And now it's here! He's 5! Its just so crazy. And the next thing you know you're waking up and your little baby is an adult having babies of his own :(

  19. I always wonder how it is to be pregnant. It seems like it would be different(in a good way) and I'm also a stress-case so I can imagine how you feel! Just breath every time you get anxiety, deep breathing is awesome; even if your mind is still stressed it relieves the body. I LOVE Switched at Birth, it's such a great show. My man and I watched all the episodes through Netflix and Hulu.

  30. Im always listening to 90s summer hits on Pandora. Cannot get enough of it and it makes me crave summer so much more than usual. I haven't done a currently post a in a while.. Maybe I need to. but I feel like mine always say the same thing.

  31. I am such a worrier too. I started writing down what I am fearful of and then I'll go back and see if what I worried about came true. 99.9% of the time the thing I spend hours worrying over never come true. It has really helped me put things in perspective.

  32. That's how I would feel if I were pregnant! Is there really a baby in there? Are you sure? hehe. It's funny that you have those thoughts, considering you're already a Mom, but I guess it's still like that even with another baby. Congrats by the way!
I was thinking about 90s music today as well. It was Sugar Ray's song 'Fade Away'. I think that's the song title! It's kind of a summer song. I love 90s music. And Jewel's 'Pieces Of You' was a great album! I used to own it!
I would love to do the 'link to my blog' thing, but I just started blogging, and I'm still figuring it all out. When I'm ready to post, I'd love to do that though. I love your blog design as well! Love how it all looks, especially the posts section :)

  34. It's hard to break the habit with 90s music. Maybe it is too darn catchy to let go of? I'll randomly find myself singing lyrics from 90s hits (Ace of Base, Spin Doctors, Blind Melon). Seriously random.

I love your currently series and that Megan is back to posting, as well!

  37. i wasn't going to say anything but the more i think about it the more annoyed i am that someone has the nerve to come to your blog and be rude to you. it makes me want to defend you and say how amazing you are.

i don't understand why people feel it is their right to go to someone's space and write something negative and snarky. everyone has a choice to read, or to not to read. if you "used to love" something and no longer do. that is your choice but to be a mean-face about it and be a coward to not even say who you are just makes it worse and more annoying. we aren't in high school anymore (well i know you and i aren't can't speak for "anonymous" maybe it's a 5th grader for all we know and hasn't grown up yet)

whenever i see someone write on someone's blog that is negative or offensive i wonder what this person is like in real life and why they have no manners and don't follow the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"

oh well dani- i'm here to say i know you are an awesome person and will continue to love your blog. i have the pointiest elbows known to man, they are my weapon of choice, just wanted to let you know i've got your back! and will defend you against faceless meany-butts that chose to be rude. =)

I can sympathize with the overactive mind--it tends to make me worry instead of enjoying life as it happens. I feel like I miss a lot. Trying to work on it!
