Get it, girl!

It's like the first day of school! All ready for my first day of CrossFit tomorrow. Excited and nervous, all at once.

There's really nothing better than a good sweat session, whether it be outside running (or walking, in my pregnant self's case), or in the gym on a favorite cardio machine. And there's nothing I love more than have a great soundtrack to fuel my workout. My intensity level and motivation is often tied to what music I have to enjoy, and I find that when I get bored with my music, I get bored with my workout too.

Below are my top workout songs of the moment. Be warned, this is a WEIRD mix of music I enjoy, but although it seems a little eclectic, this exact mix is what I've had on my iPhone for the past couple of weeks. I'm loving it! Which song is your favorite?

And if you wouldn't mind, would you share some of your most-loved get it going workout songs in the comments? I'd love to find some new favorites and I'm sure you guys would too!

  6. Today in my spin class I was shocked at how pumped I got when we listened to Mumford & Sons "I Will Wait". At the end it is a speedy song to ride to.

I always like to have a little Michael Jackson on my workout playlist. I've had Billie Jean stuck in my head all day (no complaints here).

  9. That is SUCH a good playlist and it makes me feel totally less weird about how random my own gym/general motivational playlists seem! Though mine tend to be on the hardcore meets Beyonce side of things...

  12. This is going to sound SO weird, but I stopped listening to music while I work out. I listen to podcasts now. I get bored at the gym and I guess music is too predictable or something. Like "I've been on this machine for this long, I know because this songs are both x amount of minutes" and then I'll just count the songs until I can get off the machine and it seems to take years. When I listen to podcasts it keeps me engaged and my mind doesn't get bored so I stay longer. It's so weird, I know.

    2. I LOVE listening to TBTL (http://mynorthwest.com/?nid=93)...so much fun and I agree that it makes workouts more interesting than music sometimes

  13. I have to admit that my workout playlist is mostly compiled of songs that I would never listen to outside of the gym - my husband has been known to make fun of me for this. With that being said, Zion I and Lupe Fiasco are great hip-hop artists that I have thrown in the mix. Specific songs are "Yes, Yes" and "Geek to the Beat" - Zion I, "Hit em up" - Lupe Fiasco....another recent song is "On Top of the World" - Imagine Dragons. Lastly, the song that should be added to EVERY workout list "Till I Collapse" - Emeniem

    1. I'm kind of the same way too. This particular playlist has a lot of songs I would listen to, but so often I'll be on an Eminem kick or something and he's not someone I'd typically listen to while driving! And I agree- I LOVE that Eminem song (and him!). :)

  15. Fallout Boy's new song "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark" gets me pretty pumped these days... and anything by Pitbull and Flo Rida (along with an embarrassing amount of Kesha) gets me going as well.

  23. My workout playlists are usually pretty random, but they always pump me up. A few of my favorite songs are:

    The Middle-Jimmy Eat World
    Gettin' Jiggy Wit It-Will Smith
    Afterhock-Demi Lovato
    One Week-Barenaked Ladies
All I Do Is Win-DJ Khaled
    Sail-Awolnation
    Radioactive-Imagine Dragons

  24. While doing the exercise, I don't think anything. I don't listen to any soundtrack. I just murmur to myself - "I have to perfect the day, for that I have to perfect this moment". By saying so I get motivated to do my workout more perfectly.
