Wedding Redo

One of my dear friends was engaged a couple months back, and it's been so much fun revisiting the "planning" part of my own wedding, through helping her. I say "fun" in retrospect now, but I can still remember Hank and I laughing on the car ride to our hotel post-wedding, talking about how glad we were that we never had to do THAT again!

But sometimes I do like to dream about doing it all over again. We were married in 2008, and even though it's only been five years, my tastes have changed so much, and there are so many amazing things out there. Right now my friend is in the midst of choosing invitations, so I've been scouring the web to help her with inspiration. And wow, there are some beautiful invites floating around!

When Hank and I got married we did a simple letterpress invite, but although I wouldn't ever really want to change even a detail from our special day, it's still fun to dream of how we'd do things a little differently. One big shift is that it seems to be a lot more affordable to print these days then it did even five years ago. Granted, we got ours through a small letterpress but there are some great options out there, either through places like Vistaprint (they're always running great deals on Vistaprint products) or even Etsy.

Here are some favorites I've come across this week, that I'd happily use in a "redo." Well, maybe not the Zombie Invasion one but it's still way too awesome not to include.

Would you change anything from your wedding if you could go back?

I appreciate you guys supporting the occasional sponsored content I share here. Thank you! :)

  1. I got married in 2007 before the whole Pinterest boom. To make up for the semi white trash wedding my husband and I had we are having a vow renewal ceremony in 2017 on our 10 year wedding anniversary. I get to redo everything!!!

  2. These are such cute invites! Especially that last one. So sweet. x

  3. This kind of stuff is what my wedding dreams are made of; I'm kind of super glad that I was born into the era of the Pinterest boom!

  4. Such lovely invitations! The 'Zombie Attack' (5) one is brilliant! Thanks for sharing. x

  5. number three is beautiful! those red outlines. goodness. i think i would re do every single thing about my wedding besides my dress, the cake, and the chalkboard signs. everything else can go. actually, it was such a stressful time i wish we would have eloped :) we should have just gone to vegas!

  6. My husband and I got married in the courthouse (after 6 months of dating! we were crazy) so we're talking about having a big five year vow renewal celebration. I'm excited and totally looking forward to figuring out all those details.

  7. That Zombie one is ridiculously amazing! These are all so lovely

  8. If I could redo it... we would have eloped. I really was torn between the big wedding & an elopement. We went with the wedding because we didn't want to hurt anyone by not having them there. Turns out, you just can't please some people, no matter what you do. So, if we could do it again, I would plan something small, spontaneous, & fun.

  9. It's a shame you don't have a donate button!
I'd most certainly donate to this superb blog! I guess for now i'll settle for
book-marking and adding your RSS feed to my Google account.

I look forward to brand new updates and will share this site with my Facebook group.
    Talk soon!

  10. Thanks for any other great post. Where else may just anyone get that kind of
info in such an ideal approach of writing?
I've a presentation subsequent week, and I am on the look for such information.

Here is my weblog - air max pas cher

  11. I love this post! After 6 years of a on again, off again transatlantic relationship we married on his last trip to the US (he's from Ireland). Since it was so quick, we just had a private ceremony and plan to have a much bigger, more traditional one down the line. The zombie flyer is stellar. It inspires me to think of a music flyer, which would be most fitting for us. Thanks for sharing.

  12. We got married in 2006 and were among the first of our friends to do so and I feel like we didn't have much to go on. Pinterest didn't exist so I had noooo idea what a wedding should look like :)

But then, I like that we had a low-key party and didn't feel any of the pressures of having a "perfect" wedding.

  13. my fiance and I are getting married in October, but with a 1 year old (next month) We're just keeping it simple.

i love that first invitation. It's so sweet and personal. pretty picks. <3

  14. my husband and i eloped in december - so now we are in the middle of planning the wedding reception for this summer, so i am in the middle of looking for invitation ideas. this was perfect. thank you!

  15. Such beautiful inspiration! I can't wait to plan mine.
From the bits i've previously seen, your wedding look gorgeous so dont 'redo'! Plan your 're-new'!!

  16. We got to attend a Zombie wedding a few years ago. It was fantastic, and I loved how much they stayed true to themselves in doing it that way. My little sister is having a superhero wedding next month. It does make me wonder what I'd have done differently if I knew then what I know now.

Congratulations on your second boy, by the way. Watching brothers bond the way they do is a magical, rough and tumble sort of crazy. Just accept now that you'll hear the word "balls" a lot.

  17. this october marks ten years (yes, ten) for us and i would definitely redo so many things. but, i still think we had a lovely wedding ;)

  18. EVERYTHING! Ugh, well almost everything. My maid of honor and best friend of 20+ years and I basically 'divorced' as of my wedding day. It was a mess. She and her hubby (now ex) were apparently having issues and she didn't care to tell me about them. Then she proceed to hook up with one of the groomsmen in front of EVERYONE. She can't handle not being in the spotlight.

I'd also go back and hire another photographer, order more food (never enough food!) and take more time out to make decorations. We had an open bar at the reception. We got married in New Orleans. NOLA weddings don't usually have a sit down dinner. It's a dance party from the second it starts. Most people were so happy that there was free alcohol that they didn't care much about eating! Ha!

  19. Dear Dani,
I'm with you, the day was super special when it happened but I still find myself drooling over things I never thought of, wasn't being done, wasn't available "back then", etc. It will be ten years in August and several months ago My husband and I talked about renewing our vows in a tiny ceremony that wold be the epitome of what we would choose NOW... we are having a baby this August instead! So I guess the moral of the story is: cake styles, invite designs, and dress fashions may change but you better be sure that you still like the guy who will be standing next you! I'm lucky, I do.
He's still my type in NE

  20. I've thought the same thing...I got married almost 7 years ago, and sometimes wish I had been a little more willing to break traditional Southern wedding convention. However, I can't complain about our super-fun, amazingly-low-stress day, and am especially grateful for my husband sticking it out with me!

  21. The only thing I'd change is our photographer! Great photos but he jipped us in the end. :( Everything else was perfect!
    one sweet tuesday.

  22. I'll be honest, I love the zombie one! (I'm a horror movie/The Walking Dead kind of girl) Maybe you two could renew your vows or have an anniversary party with family and friends and get your own mini redo!

  23. I have been married for 28yrs and I would love to have a redo at times but hubby is not interested

  24. Ah I love these! My husband and I got married in 2011 and I would love to do another wedding just because it was so much fun to make it your own. These invites are adorable.

  25. Aw! With pinterest I think about this all the time! I was 19 when we were married in 2007. It was perfect and fit us to a T...at 19 and 20. If we were getting married this weekend it would be a completely different affair. But still our wedding was the best day of my entire life thus far. =)
