Charlie can *almost* reach all of the toys Henry stows up on the couch, out of reach. He's getting so big, so fast.

Doing: At this very moment I'm transferring one million photos onto my external hard drives from iPhoto. In the past I never used iPhoto and it was no big deal backing things up- every time I took things off my camera I would make neat little dated folders and then each week backed everything up. Easy. But then when I got my new computer I figured I was just use iPhoto. I got lazy though and never stopped using iPhoto, and now my computer's hard drive is at capacity due to all the pictures on it. And so in order to make more space I have to get rid of all of them. The huge problem though, is that when I went to backup iPhoto it got super funky with all the photos and there was little to no organization, which is a nightmare when dealing with years of albums. So now I'm dragging each event separately as I organize then. It might take me all night (all week?) but when I'm done I will FINALLY be able to use my normal camera again, start printing photos, and get back to the boys' baby books.

Thinking about: I'm turning 32 in a week and I'm really excited. I've always been a big fan of birthdays and to me it feels a bit like New Year's Eve in the sense of place markers in time. It's fun to look back at the year I've had, and plan fun things for the next. I will post something more about my 31st year next week, but it's been such a good one. The best yet, maybe, even though there have been many sad things too.

Watching: two things to discuss here- one, I am watching The Bachelorette this season but I AM reading spoilers. It's really the only way I can enjoy it, because my hopefully optimistic heart has turned cynic and I can no longer believe that anything about the show is real. Yes, I used to think it was real...and yes, I'm laughing at myself too. Reading the spoilers though makes it so much more fun because now I know what to look out for and who to watch. I promise I won't spoil it for you though! Second thing- I always love to be in the middle of a television series, and today I just started Grey's Anatomy! I had seen a couple episodes here and there many years ago but don't remember a thing about it. One episode in and I'm loving it. I'm only about a decade late to the game, but whatever!

Looking forward to: As the years have gone by Hank and I have moved away from buying each other gifts for our birthdays and anniversary and instead put our money towards traveling. This year for our birthday we are heading to Palm Springs, along with my parents, sister and Lucy. I can't wait for the super hot weather, which might sound weird but as long as there's a pool I don't mind the 100+ weather.

Reading: I keep meaning to start Gone Girl but I still haven't. Have you read it? Did you like it? Any other summer reading recs you'd like to share?

Loving: this weather, planning summer trips, grass in our backyard, all the $6 peonies at Trader Joe's, eating lunch outside everyday, windows open, Charlie and all of the "almost talking" sounds he's been making, our birthday and anniversary week coming up, and mangoes every single morning.

So, how about you? What are you up to today? Feel free to do your own "currently" post on your blog and link back in the comments for everyone to check out. And thanks again to my dear friend Megan for providing the original inspiration for these posts.

  2. Greys is one of the funnest shows to be a fan of, it'll never disappoint. Us girls need a dose of drama every now and again!!

  3. Ok. I would read Gillian Flynns other books before Gone Girl, they are so much better. I won't spoil anything but the ending was super disappointing and incredibly unrealistic. Pissed me off to no end. I am interested I hearing your review of it though, especially since you are a fan of the Handmaid's Tale, which also disappointed me in the end.

  4. Love Grey's. So excited for you to watch it :) And I HATE the iPhoto disorganization as well. I wish there was a streamlined way for pictures to be everywhere. I haven't figured it out yet, the "just right" system. ~jenna

  5. I had a love/hate relationship with Gone Girl - gripping story, but the characters were DREADFUL humans. Love love love Grey's. I stopped around season 6 and have always wanted to start at the top and rewatch it all.

  6. Oh those little juicy thighs are just the bessssttt. And yes Gone Girl is awesome. Read it for sure! I just finished reading all 3 of the Fifty Shades books and they were all unbelievable...I know I am so late to the cool train with that one but I can now see what all the hype was about a few years back.

I love love love Grey's and hope you do too! :) I have some catching up to do still, but I'm on season 5! Right now I'm watching Gossip Girl but plan to finsih Grey's when I can.

  8. Gone Girl is a must!! Loved it. Couldn't put it down. I would read 5-10 pages here and there throughout the day just to get my fix!

  9. Okay I'm just going to say it. I didn't like Gone Girl that much. The hype made me think it was going to be some amazing brain twisting thriller but ... I could see it coming a mile away. And it just didn't grip me. That being said, like a bajillion people loved it, so you might too. Maybe I just didn't give it my all.

  10. Ohhh, my husband turned 32 Sunday and I'm turning 32 in October. So weird! I like the idea of putting money towards travel instead of gifts although I've been tending towards really silly gifts lately. Like, this year, he got a broccoli dog figurine from some silly store in downtown Disney. And yes, it's as goofy as it sounds.

  11. I too will be watching The Bachelorette. And I love the idea to save money for trips rather than exchange gifts. That sounds wonderful.

  12. I couldn't get into Gone Girl. It is written in two different voices (a man telling the narrative, and a woman's journal entries) and I just couldn't go back and forth between the two characters.

    Have a great weekend!

  13. I was somewhat disappointed by 'Gone Girl' and found it maddening at times. I don't want to give spoilers, so I'll just say that I found it hard to like the main characters and often just wanted to chuck the book. :p

  16. Gone Girl is liked/unliked because of it's ending, people dislike it because it's not in line with any expectation they would have for a book. I didn't like the ending but I'm pretty certain that's how you're suppose to feel. This book brings out all different types of emotions and is really, really good. I think you should definitely read it.

iphoto is a pain in the butt with organization, I dragged all old photos onto my external hard drive and haven't had the heart to go back through and fully organize.

  17. I JUST read "Gone Girl" and yes, you should definitely read it! The characters are unlikeable and there's a lot of vulgarity, but it's a page-turner for sure. I couldn't stop thinking about it, and would love to hear your thoughts too!

Right now I'm reading "Attachments" by Rainbow Rowell - cute so far!

  21. Danielle, love your blog, what software did you use instead of iPhoto? I hate it too!

  22. Ok so first up---- Greys is my FAVORITE of all time. I own every season but now that they are on Netflix; I'm re-watching again for probably the 6th time. Does that make me crazy? I don't even care.

And secondly, I HAVE read Gone Girl and to be TOTALLY honest.... I was REALLY into it in the beginning but HATED the end. I felt like I just didn't get it with how crazy everyone is about it.... but I think it's just that it's not for me. Honestly you should read it just to tell me what you think.

  24. I read Gone Girl and it was excellent! A little slow at first but it gets better. It is very twisted though and kind of dark and makes you say, "Wow. People are crazy." but it is very well written!

The Paris Architect was also a very good book.
